There is no quality available PF that worth trading away Asik for at this point. I do not want to acquire a lesser value player compare to Asik. When push come to shove, Asik just have to swallow his ego and be a backup C. Starting line up; Lin, Harden, Parsons, Dmo, D12. Nothing wrong with that. Now think about it; our second unit will have Asik and Beverley coming off the bench, we will eat any other second unit alive! Our second unit not only can maintain the lead, it can actually increase the lead. Sometimes the best move is not to make a move.
We had no problem playing Greg Smith and Omer Asik together. Just do the same with D12 at the 4 and Asik at the 5.
We'll see. If Asik requested to be traded, I think Morey should honor that. Asik had a hell of a year for us last year, he played out of his mind. It's not really fair to just force him to accept a backup role now. If he wants to stay, thats great but if not let him go and bring in a stretch four and sign Jermaine O'Neal
Love Asik but if he can't play alongside Dwight and average about 30 minutes a night in total then we need that 8 million invested at the 4. Now if we can move Lin instead and get a Daniel Gibson at the 1 for waay cheaper then a luxury backup center like Asik would be great.
Jeff Green and Courtney Lee for Asik and Lin. then sign Gibson.. or Jeff Green and Melo and Sign Brewer...
DMo, hardly 4 on 5. He has offensive skill, and he is young and will improve. He deserve a chance to mesh with the 1st unit.
Howard's on board for only a guaranteed 3 years, there is no time for a chance for meshing. We need a veteran, we needed josh smith but hopefully Morey passed because a better opportunity is out there.
I would be OK with trading Asik for Ryan Anderson, as he would fit well. I would also be OK with trying out Asik/D12 frontcourt before making that trade. Asik is only going to get better, and it will either work or we can trade him at a higher value. We have options. And I like them all.
The funniest thing about this whole thread is saying Asik needs to put his ego to the side. He didn't request a trade. He is not mad. He is the hardest working player on our team and will continue to be that until the day he gets the notification that he is traded.
Oh, and we DO need a 4. A good one. Maybe one of our former rookies will be up to the task, but I won't gamble on it. We have a window to make this work and we don't have time for prospects.
Big guys fall apart come playoff time, ask Yao. Got to keep Howard's minutes down till playoffs begin. Asik will be a huge factor on this team.
