Clearly, this team is at its best when both Yao and Tmac are healthy. But, it is also clear that we are much better with Yao out than with Tmac out.

Tmac makes this team tick. Even if he isn't scoring, he's controlling the ball, setting up other players, and playing good D. I also feel that defensively, Mutumbo is just as good, if not better, than Yao, so there is no dropoff on the defensive end with Yao out.

JVG runs a slow game to begin with, and when Yao is in there, it slows it down even more, when Yao is out, it seems like we run more and there is more of a "flow" to the game and to our outside shooting. I think in general, Houston Rockets fans are obsessed with the center position because of
Dream (rightfully so), but in today's NBA, it is not necessary to have a dominant center to win. This is a guard's league and having a guard like Tmac who can shoot, play D, AND handle the ball in critical situations is more important than having a dominant center. Look at Dallas, Phoenix, the Lakers & even the Heat. Yeah Yeah I know they have Shaq, but Wade runs that team and did so in the finals. This is a guard's league.

I love Yao and YOF's will not want to hear this, but this is the reality of today's NBA.

ofcourse this team has a better chance to win with Tmac in... than with Yao in...

Tmac is the best player on the team... and the best playmaker...

and not to sound like a broken record... this team will not win in a 7 games playoff series without both Tmac and Yao...

Hey....great timing!! Maybe best to see if we can do better than the potential 1-3 we are looking at since Yao went out (to Indiana, NJ, Atlanta and Memphis - just to make it worse).

Note, Rockets currently in tight one with Grizz as I write this.

but if your suggesting we go away from the halfcourt game...

    then...

1 we dont have the players to play run and gun...

2 if that is the case we should trade Yao... because he would become useless...

I agree. But I think we can get there without him. So I don't want them to rush him back right away until he is completely healed and ready to go.

If we have a solid pg with good passing and decent shooting, then we are equally good with Yao or Tmac

Yes, trade Yao. So, there will not be anymore argument about who is Houston Rockets' best player.

Rockets are running and gunning, have hit 13 3 pointers and Tmac has 38 points. It was great timing, all my points were proven.

Yeah, I agree the timing of this thread might be off but I agree with the overall premise that a Tmac-led team without Yao is better than a Yao-led team without tmac. Even though it is a moot point that the stats. prove this because we ain't getting far without both of them in the lineup together anyway.

Plus, I think threads like these just fans the flames for more Rocket fan vs. YOF bickering.

Well, I guess my math was wrong anyway...this win should make them 3-1 over the last four games, right?

Still, counting a Memphis loss, those teams have had a combined record of 46-77

And they were struggling against the Grizz for a lot of the game.

I think one of the posts above is most relevant - with a decent, solid, stable, PG the team can be equally good with either player, but not stellar unless they have both.

Also, a fully healthy and game ready Bonzi and same for Kirk Snyder would both definitely help even more.

Pretty silly thread considering it was proven last year that we can't win with either of them out. Also, we've played 4 of the worst teams in the league so far without yao. The pacers game was the only semi good team, but they were without jermaine oneal that game.

WE can win with both smoothly, one of them closely, none of them with no chance.

AND OH YEA, LOVE T-MAC :) This isnt about who is better as a player, no one freaking cares as long as we win!!!!! Tmac is a good leader fo sho.

obviously, the subject misses one word:
"We can win *scrubs* w/out Yao", as the "math" so far has proved.

Stupid YOH whoring thread. This is the softest stretch in the season, if you can't win against ATL and MEM at home, you might as well go to Iraq.

    Keep whoring.

Girls are allowed to start threads?

I don't think we can win without Yao. We've played some pretty terrible teams these last 4 games. I'm predicting a rough next 5 weeks or so.

    Roger that.

The funniest thing is : the players don;t even care who is the leader: Yao or Tmac or Both.

Batch of losers jumped out whenever there was an oppotunity to show their ignorance.

Whats with all this YOF and crap???

If your not a Rockets fan, then please get the **** off this board!!!

I waited like 3 years to get on this board, and thats because I'm a ROCKETS FAN!

I was a ROCKETS when the Franchise was here, I was a fan when Cat was here and was a fan b/c of the Dream. He left, Clyde retired, and I still stuck with the team. So if your here only b/c you like TMac or Yao, then please stop posting on this board. THIS IS A ROCKETS SITE FOR ROCKETS FANS!

Sure, if we have Snyder back and Bonzi get back to shape, we have enough to compete.
