That think Mavs fans are douche bags. So here's the story. I am temporarily living in enemy territory (San Antonio) doing some contract work. This morning on the local radio station here they were talking about how rude and obnoxious the Mavs fans that came to San Antonio were this weekend. They said other fans have come in droves, they mentioned specifically Rockets fans, but none of them have acted like such jerks as the Mavs fans that came this weekend. They said well look at who their leader is the biggest jerk of them all Mark Cuban. Then another person said it's widely known that people from Dallas are some of the most arrogant people in the world. Another host then said maybe they were so rampant because the Mavs are the only professional team that they have that ever competes in the post season.

Of course I already knew all of these things, but having spent most of my life in the Galveston/Houston area I always heard this from us. I never have had a chance to hear this outside of Houston. I guess it just comforts me to know that other people around the country think as low of the Mavs cry baby players and their arrogant for no reason fans as we do in Houston.

Really? I remember there was this football team from Dallaas with that Smith guy from Dancing with the Stars. I think that team did pretty well in the postseason a few times, no?

I'm not the one that said it. But if you really have to be reminded I would say they were referring to the fact that the Cowgirls haven't won a playoff game since a certain Dancing with the Stars player has been wearing a star.

My friend was at the Spurs game & said a group of Mavs fans were cursing ppl out after the game, getting really rowdy with anyone they saw wearing a spurs shirt or jersey. I told him Im not surprised.

And as we all know, some Rocket (or insert any other team name here) fans are never arrogant or jerks or curse people out.

Nothing in the world makes me happier than putting an ignorant Mavpricks fan in his place.

Just ask the clutchfans who were with me the last time we had a group game against the Mavs.

let's put this in perspective. i once had several rockets fans come up to dallas and i drove them to the game at reunion arena to watch the rockets take on the mavericks. i was basically designated driver. well, they all got pretty rowdy both during and after the game. we won the game and they were being rowdy during the game. after the game, we were driving by all the disappointed mavs fans traveling back to their cars and my friends opened my mini-van side door while hanging out like drunken fools yelling and cursing the mavs fans as we drove by. i did not sanction these actions but it did happen. kingcheetah was there. not only was it pretty funny rubbing in their loss...a lot of mavs fans were angered by it.

so, before getting on any high horse to claim mavs fans are arrogant jerks or whatever, that pretty much goes for any city with a NBA team depending on the circumstances (especially if alcohol is involved). isn't that why fans travel to cities nearby...to represent the road team and give hell to the home audience if their team loses? houston fans can be just as big jerks.

No one is saying that Mavericks fans are the only fans that get loud and obnoxious. People are saying that the Mavericks have more obnoxious fans compared to other teams.

There's a difference and I hope people see it.

Seriously, what right does ANYBODY from San Antonio have to bag on a Dallas person about sports? San Antonio has ridden the Dallas Cowboys JOCK for 30+ years, and now they're gonna complain about the people FROM THAT CITY?? If you don't like them so much, why the hell do you pump in millions and millions of dollars to support a team and a city that doesn't give two flying ****'s about you??? If the Spurs didn't exist in San Antonio, then that city would be the biggest Mavericks' supporters this side of the Alamo. Pfft, please.....

The Jazz fans are even more obnoxious than the Mavs fans.

All I see is a bunch of innuendo. Just because a local radio station decided to tee off on Mavs fans because their own team lost...doesn't prove anything. Can't beat the team...might as well beat the fans. lol.

The San Antonio/Dallas rivalry is just as big as the Utah/Houston rivalry. Neither side's fans like each other at all. So, I don't see much objectivity occurring when discussing this type of thing...especially in a Houston-oriented forum which is blatantly biased against Dallas.

It's such an irony that Spurs fans would complain about the jerkiness of other teams' fans.

Though a bit annoying, I've always found Spurs fans to be relatively classy when compared to other teams.

I go to SA once or twice a year from Austin for the Rockets games and the fans never give me much trouble (I've got on Rockets gear). Of course, we've lost more often than not, which helps their state of mind, I guess. What bugs me the most are some of the screeching women. They just screech, like they're being burned at the stake, whenever any Spers players make a play or even almost make a play. It can be annoying.

It's funny that you should say that. We play San Antonio as much as Dallas and have lost to the Spurs much more historically than we have to Dallas. However, Houston does not have the utter disdain for the Spurs' fans that we do for Mavericks fans. Why? Because San Antonio definitely has rowdy fans, but they aren't rude generally.

Am I saying every Spurs fan is a nice guy? No, but in general they are just fans of their team. Also, am I saying every Mavericks fan is an arse? No, but I've seen more of them than Spur and other teams' fans.

San Antonio and Houston don't care for each other much, but we share one thing in common: our utter disdain for Mavericks fans..... and championships... Make that two things.

From my experience, it is somewhat accepted (known) that people from Dallas often have a complex that makes them think they have to tell you how superior they are to other people/cities. I don't propose everyone from Dallas is that way, but I have encountered this on more than one occasion.
