there are so many trade topics. i just wanted to point out that we are screwed if...

    1. san antonio signs j. kidd

    2. san antonio signs j. oneal

    3. dallas signs k. malone

    4. los angeles signs pj brown (or any other effective power foward)

    5. sacramento retains their roster

    6. g. payton comes to the west

    7. elton brand goes to a contender in the west

    8. the rox dont get more serious

im glad jvg is gonna analyze the team strengths and weaknesses but i think he should meet w/ the team and tell them to get in the gym and stay in shape (read a post about mot and cato sighting where they were pigging out)

either way, we're the new "timberwolves" of the western conference for atleast 3 yrs(3 and out... 4 and out w/ the new format). Im a die hard rox fan but i honestly cant see us getting pass the top seeds of the west, ie. la, sa, dal, sac. we're stuck w/ bad contracts (norris, cato, moT... id keep cato around cause hes a good backup for yao). we dont play as a team. yao is not agressive enough.

i really hope jvg can bring this team together. BUT, we also need to watch out for what all the other teams are doing. how about upping the price on some of these fa's. other teams should pay more just like us. dallas screwed us over w/ norris' contract. lets return the favor. :D

sorry if my thoughts seem sporadic. the finals sucked and it seems like the rox org has shut down (no new uni's yet, no verified trade rumors, moT and cato pigging out......)

Yep. I hope none of the above happens. We won't be screwed...but we won't be able to beat any of them.

If that's your definition of being screwed, then all teams in the league are screwed. I believe the Rox are 1 decent power forward and some hardass JVG discipline to becoming something good (separating Cat and SF wouldn't hurt either). All of those pointers and you still can't find the one that screws us the most:

    YAO NOT FULFILLING HIS POTENTIAL

Also, if Jazz signs Calbert Chaney one more year, bad news for the Rockets!
Carlos Boozer remains healthy with the Cavs, :( !
Skita grows one more inch in Denver, we are doomed!
Titto Madox doesn't go to the all-star game, see ya, Rockets!
Madsen increases his shooting percentage, no playoff for us!
Charlotte keeps building their new arena, crap!
Jordan doesn't have one more affair, .

We were screwed when we ditched the Red and Gold. That is indisputable.

That is the one I hope does happen. I believe he would be worse on Dallas (than Chuckster was on Rox).

Charles Barkley got us from the 2nd round to the conference finals. So if you're hoping Karl Malone has the same effect on the Mavs then he did for us then Dallas would make it to the NBA Finals. Who cares if any of those teams make those moves, as long as the Rockets take care of their business they'll be fine.

I don't think Dallas signing K. Malone (40yrs old) is going to effect the Rockets all too much. Yes maybe short term, but on a long term outlook he's just a minor road block...

Rockets is going to get much better simply JVG is now the coach. We're already a talented team, we just need a good system & some discpline.

Karl Malone signing with the Mavs could actually be a good thing.

If Karl leaves Utah, then the Jazz will no longer be a playoff team, opening up a spot for the Rockets.

Yes because we remember this past year when he was in the West, the Rockets were doing much worse than the Sonics... Or were they?

We're screwed if our players don't mature and improve. Who cares what everyone else is doing.

What if they replace Malone and Stockton with Brand and Miller? How much would that push the Jazz back?

I don't see how Malone helps Dallas. He's not that great of a post-up defender. Average rebounder (at this point) and is primarily a spot-up shooter.

Malone is more useful on the Lakers where they just need someone with a pulse at PF.

Dal does not get upgraded with the acquisition of Malone.
