I agree. We're lottery bound. In fact, I think most of the teams he put us in the same category as are all in better shape for this season. At the moment, our two best players suiting up this season are Luis Scola and Aaron Brooks. The Grizzlies have Gay and Mayo and they have great size with M. Gasol and Thabeet Hasheem. The Warriors have Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson and Corey Maggette, and that's before we even get into their promising young guys - Stephen Curry and Anthony Randolph. The Timberwolves have Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Johnny Flynn and probably Ricky Rubio. Now, we're probably in considerably better shape than the Kings - whose two best players look to be Kevin Martin and Tyreke Evans. But still, I don't see how we're not right in the mix with those guys without Yao, McGrady and Artest.

and having the worst record isnt a waste of season? we wont be guarenteed a top 5 pick.....

not winning a championship or not giving me something to cheer about is a waste of season to me

So he says that the East has the edge because A) there are more teams that are lottery bound and B) the top 3 teams in the East are better than the top 3 teams in the West. For starters, the only reason there are more lottery-bound teams in the West is BECAUSE the West is stronger. Teams like the Rockets (yes, even without Yao), Warriors, and Clippers would DEFINITELY be playoff bound teams in the East because the middle to lower pack teams in the East are weaker. Is this guy seriously saying that teams like the Bobcats, Knicks, Heat, Pistons, Pacers, and Bulls are better than teams like the Mavs, Suns, Blazers, Jazz, Warriors, and Rockets?? That's just asinine. Also, I would even argue that the top 3 teams in the West are more formidable than their counterparts in the East. That in and of itself is a discussion on its own, but the Lakers, Spurs, and Nuggets could beat any of the 3 teams from the East in a 7 game series hands-down.

Screw the lotto, we are going to compete and be a playoff team. If we don't have enough but are a playoff team and add Yao and another top tier player than watch out NBA in 2010

we can have the worst record... and still not waste the season. If we are developing our youth in a constructive manor. Record has nothing to do with it. I would rather develop our guys, than barely make the playoffs and get roflstomped by whatever powerhouse we face. i would call that a waste of a season.

What a r****ded article especially with this:

That's r****ded. And we're still better than Golden State, Minnesota, Clippers, etc.

Amen to that. Give me a top five lottery pick next season over a first round blow out any day of the week.

Zero credibility especially after saying that the East is better.

What a waste of a season? How many teams with the worst record have even had the first pick in the draft? How many lottery picks have been busts? (Has to be over 60%)

Personally, as a true Rockets fan, I want to see this team win as many games as they can...I get happy when we win and bummed when we lose.

Nothing would make me prouder of this team than to see them even get an 8 seed...with our "Big Three" now not playing this season.

I truly think that this team is built perfectly for Adelman's offense...and executing it successfully, along with continuing to play great team defense, can certainly get us into the playoffs as a lower seed.

I'm shocked that you would prefer to tank an ENTIRE season just to get a lottery pick or that you would not be proud of a team without ONE superstar on it if they managed to play great TEAM ball and made it into the playoffs...

If I could give negative rep, you would be getting it

    EDIT: et tu, Raven?

As of right now, I would put us in the unpredictable category, but if we're lottery bound, so be it

Since we are going to the "Lottery", which team do ya'll seeing making it to the playoffs because we won't be in it.? Like in the 05-06 season I believe, we missed the playoffs and the Clippers got in it. So which team do you people see benefiting from us not having our star player and missing the playoffs?

Man, so should New Orleans, Utah, Atlanta, Chicago, and Miami not just try? I mean, those are not bad teams, but they aren't championships, so why don't they tank? The idea that if you're not going to win, you should play as bad as you can for a draft pick is pretty disgusting.

Its kind of hard to say this, but at this point, i'd rather get the a top 3 pick next year than make a first-round exit...
