Remember when Les talk about being predatory and taking advantage of bad teams giving up on their season? (Didn't get all that they wanted, but did get a Kevin Marting, Jordan Hill and at least 1 pick out of it.) Now we are the predated (or the "prey" as some put it). Now that Yao is gone, possibly for good, the other teams are checking in on whether it's time to get in on the Rockets fire sale. Gortat for Martin, probably crap for Courtney Lee. Morey's phone is probably ringing off the hook right now. Are you enjoying the vultures circling our rotting carcass?
I think it's funny. They're circling and Morey isn't going to bite. In fact, Morey is holding up the Knicks on getting the pick back for the Melo trade. We ought to know Morey better than that by now. He ain't giving in.
He ain't. But some would. Exactly. Morey's not tanking, not selling off the team for scrap. He'll make deals, but not on fire sale terms.
I wish he would in the instance of Anthony Randolph. I just don't think that pick will be any lower than #20 and to me Anthony Randolph is worth much more than that. Of course, it also would give us Scola, Hill, Patterson and Randolph all at the four spot. He's assembled a talented team 1 through 15.. and now we're running into the problems of being talented everywhere but great no where.
Your observation is correct. But we will fight back and make the playoffs as the no. 7 or 8 seed and will upset the no. 1 or 2. Then people will shut up. I saw the Knicks yesterday. They are NOT a better team than the Rockets and I predict that the Rockets will end up with a better record. I am willing to take bets on this.
It's not too bad. I've yet to see Morey make a truly bad decision so I don't think he's feeling desperate at all. Nor do I think we should feel/be desperate. In fact, we've been building and collecting pieces that don't necessarily have to run with a Yao-centric offense. If a worthwhile deal is to be had, I think Morey will pull the trigger. I don't think we have to "blow the team up" to rebuild.

But if you don't trade your expiring contracts, they end up being fairly worthless. Shane, Jeffries, Yao, Hayes to name most of them. DD
What a wasted opportunity that will be.....got to trade them to a team in the hunt now for future prospects. DD
Agree with this. Especially if we can get a defensive center. I wouldn't be surprised if we go after someone like Anderson Varejao if Gortat is off the market. A guy like that plus Brooks coming back can get us close to 50 wins. There are other ways of rebuilding than to tank.
