nobody should respect us. none of our main guys have won jack and most of our role players disappear in the playoffs.

we gotta get it done to earn respect. you don't earn respect by winning in the damn reg. season.

he gave us credit and said we'd be in the 2nd round.

this crap happens every year, some fans get angry at the media for not picking the rockets to win it all, and guess what?

do i have to remind you?

you have to think of this as a person who covers the entire nba. he's not going to pick the team that does not have the best record or recent history of playoff failures to win it all.

quit crying. you can flame him when we do something, don't flame people when they are making logical choices.

i don't think we'll win it all, unless we start playing together as a group and stop getting injuries.

you believe in us so much, go to vegas and drop $1000 on us to win it all then. oh you have to be 21 to gamble too.

    He's right.

    1. We have a pretty good chance of *not* even making the playoffs.
    2. We have a collection of players who have historically disappeared in pressure situations (like the playoffs).
    3. We're led by fundamentally soft players who do not get respect around the league (players or writers).

There's absolutely no need to take notice of people's projection. It is also not necessary to look back to your own playoff track record. Championship is not decided based on history.

Just play one game at a time during the playoff and adhere to basketball fundamentals and coaching plans.

Respect will come when it is due. Hands will clap when you win the championship. Go Rox!

He makes a very good point. It's up the Rockets to prove him wrong.

Man whts wif this self-beaten attitude from all you guys......

Tinman, when did i even cry or whine in those brief words I used? I simply trashed the man because I think he suks and I never liked his writings.

and northeastfan, we have a pretty good chance of not even making the playoffs? are u kidding me?

I agree we need to earn the respect, but to say we have no shot at being the darkhorse come playoff time is deserving of us fans, who are hot-blooded in nature, to flame him imo.

Has the cavs done any crap b4 the year they went to the finals? NO. Playoff success is not determined by your track record. It is correlated because good teams tend to have the chemistry and talents to be successful year in and year out. But it is not an absolute must.

We have one fewer loss than the 9th place team ... that's not exactly secure.

dude, you need to grow up. if you don't like someone then don't drag it here.
you did notice he gave us the 2nd round right? that's something we haven't been to since 1997.

if you want to be a professional writer in sports, you have to learn how to be fair.

I hate Stephen A Smith, but I don't choose to post his article cause I hate his brand of journalism.

Do you like Kenny Smith? the only guy who predicted the Rockets to win it all at the beginning of the year. And guess what? he's a former Rocket.

Take kevin garnett, who's only been past the first round TWO times--a fact not many people remembers now-- even taken into consideration of his championship run last year.

He has been flamed in the first round by more than 6 times prolly (lazy to look up the real number). But when the right talent is around him, his team blossomed in the postseason.

So are we so beaten mentally by our previous misfortunes, the botched calls, the injuries, that we should stop believing in ourselves?

You tell me, but I ain't gonna stop believeing, or be living in the past lik somebody here.

first of all, turn on spell check, its a new feature like the iphone or led technology.

Second faith in your team vs freaking out on every person who doesn't think we will win a championship is another.

live in the real world dude. how about posting something relevant? talk to any nba players or legends and ask them about the Rockets? how about any reports on what the current team is doing and their injury situation?

Brooksball, I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. There is no way this team will miss the playoffs unless ALL THREE of the main guys get injured.

So you're saying there's, what, about a 30% chance of us missing the playoffs?

As much as I hate to admit it, from a non-rocket fan point of view, it makes sense. If you didn't love the rockets would you be expecting them to win it all? Heck, even the WC?

I'm a big fan and I'm optimistic about our chances but I can't get upset when we haven't shown anything yet.

What's up with the growing use of this non-word?

Since when did people older than the age of 3 start using it regularly?
