Ways to keep higher seated fans happy?

Well this is my third year as a season ticket holder, and the only time I ever got something when they threw out prizes was my first year (the last year they were in the Compaq Center). I think what makes it difficult is the way the seats and the entrances to the sections are set up. at the Compaq Center you would enter the section and walk up to your seat. Now you have to walk down to enter the section and get to the seats. What difference does this make? Before they could just enter the section and throw things up. Now they have to go all the way down to the bottom of the section and throw things up. I think that's the main reason the upper seats aren't getting half as many items as they used to. At the end of last year they began dropping shirts from the rafters using parachutes and that was a good idea, but the problem with that was if you weren't sitting directly below the rafters you didn't have a very good chance of getting one.

What I want to know is...what could they do to keep the fans in the higher sections happy and motivated? The only logical things I can think of are getting some of those guns that shoot the shirts out long distances, or just send people around the sections during halftimes throughout the games to throw items out. Even when they use the slingshot 95% of the time the item doesn't reach the upper sections so I don't see a point.

Another thing I remember them doing was picking someone to move to better seats (or something like that) and all of the people in that persons row would win something as well. Maybe they should do a couple of sections each night that win instead of just a row. Do you have any thoughts on what they could do because even though I know I'm not in the expensive seats I think everyone at the top deserves at leat the chance to get the items. I'm just getting sick imagining how many of those people items the people in the lower sections get compared to the upper sections.

What happened to the "slingshot" or the "tshirt cannon?"

Instead, they have 6-7 people throwing shirts as far as they can, and throwing them about 6-10 rows up.

Could someone explain this t-shirt lust? I mean, you're adults right? Yet this t-shirt distribution is seriously ****ing with some fans' sense of justice.

We're not just talking about for ourselves, but about all the kiddies and others sitting up talk.

This is something that Tim would handle.

I wish there was a way where the lower bowl seats can be occupied by us hardcore fans at a lower price when the corporate a-holes don't show up...

...like maybe after the 1st quarter...

I think the upper fans should get free Big Macs if they score 90 points.

That's what I concerns about, I don't really give a damn about those T-shirts, but when those great seats are empty in the lower bowl, why can't us fill them in? They could let us go down after the first QT if nobody show up for those seats in the first QT, and we can stay there until the whoever hold the ticket of that seat show up. At least it will make the Rockets look better on TV with filled lower bowl.

I know it will never happen, but it'd be nice if they could do that between quarters or something. Then it wouldn't be very disruptive. The players would like it!

You should see the SBC Center in SA. I went to the Rockets vs. Spurs game there, and I was literally afraid I was going to fall over. I have never seen such small leg room in an arena in my entire life.

They had to go back the next year and redo all the seats.

I understand your frustration. Last night, when they had "The worlds largest T-shirt toss" I was mid sentence expressing my frustration when I was popped in the back of the head with a T-shirt that was thown down from up above. They tried, but they do need to make a better effort.

You see there is a section for the masses (upperdeck) and a section for the classes (lower deck). Its kind of like the difference between coach and business/first class. In coach you get packed in like sardines, the seats barely recline and the food is about the equivalent of a school lunch and they charge you $5 bucks per drink....lol business/first class however is a completely different story.....you get to sip champagne momosas as the peasants load into the cargo hold, then you are offered a seven course meal (all you can eat) with choice of entree and desert along with your choice of beverage (even alchohol) for free and once you have had your fill you can lay back in your fully reclinable (and I do mean fully) seat to slumber away in comfort. Why do you think they close those curtains........LOL

I'm sure the response from the classes would be something to the tune of......

    "Let them eat cake!!!" :D

The got rid of the T-shirt cannon a few years back because Clutch(the bear) accidentally shot Cuttino in the shoulder with it. Just as Clutch was about to shoot a shirt high up into the stands, somebody behind him bumped which cause the angle of the barrel to go down which caused the shirt to be shot right at Cuttino. It kept Cuttino out for the rest of the game.
