Got this idea form an article on ESPN's website...

How bout having the fans vote in twenty guys. Top two votegetters are captains and they pick the squad they run with. Can you picture KG telling his teammate "Wally. You got game kid, but I need a point guard - Franchise, you on my team."

Imagine the motivation of the poor sap picked last. You'd actually see some players giving a **** bc their ego was trampled a little bit...

Never happen but it'd be nice. Anything would be better than this tired ass weekend with THE WHEEL, The Jet as our LEGEND, etc.

I also heard an excellent idea on the radio concerning the All Star weekend. A radio talk show host, Mike Fisher, suggested a 16 man, winner take all, 1 on 1 tournament. Winner gets something like a million dollars, and the players have motivation because there is NO ONE else around for them to blame or fall back on. They must showcase their skills, and winning likely WILL make a difference in this case, because it will be solely a reflection on what that player can do.

Plus, you could come up with some great matchups that I would love to see. The only problem I forsee with this is having point guards match up with centers, and the difficulty and possible boring play that might result. Also, players might not be willing to participate in fear of looking bad. That is why you instate a trash talking bonus to any players that join and get another player to join the tourney by trash talking them in the media. :D

I like the first idea. But make it a 3-team tourney, 8 players per team. Only problem is, if your Shaq, and you get the first pick when you're captain (Kobe), then there's no competition :(

Maybe there can be a rule where you can pick someone from your own team?

    I really like that idea.

Also, I like the one on one. But not 16 players, maybe 8.

I like the one on one idea too. But then we'd all b**** because it wasn't fair when Stevie Franchise drew Kevin Garnett.

Not sure I like a one on one format, although I would like a three on three which I believe would showcase more ability becuase you could feed off the other two. I would like to give the slam dunk another chance but get the people everyone wants to see, why the heck wasnt T-MAC in the dunk contest?

    I would like to see:
    T-Mac
    Kobe
    Steve
    Vince

Ok run-bdp, I have to ask:

What does the 'bdp' stand for?

BTW, I wonder if Calvin could have been the 'Legend'? He would have made a few shots, that's for sure.
