I moved into a new house in febuary, and now that its summer, i've been looking to install a water softener. The house we moved into were made last year, so it already has everything ready, and all we need to do is pick which water softener we need. All i'm asking for, is recomandation for a water softener. also, money isn't a big factor, but i would like for the price to be reasonable, and not overpriced.
Water softeners treat the incoming water in your house and rids water of its "hardiness". Hard water is not good for you, your pipes, your drinking water, your laundry or your fixtures. You can find them at Lowe's for under $500. The cost will depend on how big the one you want is, which will be based on the size of your family. If you are a do it yourselfer, it is an easy install and will take about an hour or so. Bags of salt or potasium chloride run about $5 or so. I think my softener goes through 3-4 bags every 2 months.
