I've always wanted to own one but thought it was to much of a hassle. Has anyone owned/own one? is it good? Bad? awful?
Ya I don't think it's a good idea. Maybe if it was the early 90s I just ordered a king size Tempurpedic - Rhapsody. It comes in Monday
Don't do it man. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/I8_r5a9Gvt0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Co-sign this, your back isn't made for waterbeds. Same with fancy chairs, sittin up with your back straight is way healthier. These things really hurt your spine and deform it.
I have one of the tube kind at my mom's house. Those, while not as "fun" as the full waterbeds, are probably better for actual sleeping. It took my husband a while to get used to it. Also if it bursts or leaks, it's only one tube at once and a lot less of a wet mess than the traditional waterbed would be. I still like them, retro or not, and wish I had one just to chill out on. If you're renting, watch your lease; many don't allow them or require that they be on the ground floor.

You can always straighten your spine though correct? I remember i used to have lazy posture, then i went to boot camp and it was all about walking erect. Now, many years later my back is starting to hump from slouching at the computer all day long.
Yes but it's better to not just start the mess at all, you avoidin a lot of ish that way. See Asian people, most of them wisely sit on the floor while eating and don't have any chair that messes up their spine and posture. Way healthier AND cheaper.

Had one for years. Sold it at a garage sale a couple of years back. It was one of those motionless tubular types as well, and had good support, but just got tired of it and got a pillowtop something or other. I have thought about the tempurpedic for a while, but i lately have heard that they get somewhat warm, and I don't dig on being hot while sleeping. Is that true? Warmer than normal mattresses or even just warmer than normal?
I bought one in the mid 90's right out of college. It was sold as pretty 90% waveless, and I agree with that before the first move. Moving waterbeds is a major pain in the ass. Even if you don't move, you need to drain them out periodically, which also sucks. It seems like every time I moved the mattress it lost 10% of its wavelessness. By the time I ditched it, I was sleeping on the seven seas. I much prefer my Sterns and Foster mattress that I have now. There's also the chick factor. Things start progressing and move to the bedroom, and there's always a surprise the first time when you hit the bed. "Oh, I have a waterbed." Never was a problem, but it always seemed to be a brief pause in the action.
