I had to laugh. These poor guys need to reconsider their name if they want to be taken seriously. [rquoter] MILF protests arrest of 4 members The secessionist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) filed on Monday a protest against the government over the recent arrests of at least four of its members in Mindanao last weekend. In a statement posted on its website (luwaran.com), the MILF said its Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) filed the protest before its government counterpart. According to the protest, the first arrest took place about 3 p.m. Friday, involving an MILF member identified as Surab Anok. Citing initial reports reaching it, the MILF said operatives claiming to be from the government's Task Group Tugis "arrested" Anok along Bonifacio Street near a shopping center in Cotabato City. "He was forcibly taken inside a white L-300 van by his captors and until this time there is no hint of where is the victim's exact whereabouts," the MILF said. The second incident took place at 4 p.m. on the same day, when supposed members of Joint Task Force Zamboanga arrested one Hussein Ahaddin at Muti village in Zamboanga City. A third "arrest" took place at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, when Cotabato police arrested Mike Dalama and Andy Kalid at a restaurant near the City Arcade. "These MILF members are Mike Dalama and Andy Kalid who were having their snacks together with two friends namely Norodin Salik and Esmael Abo when they were arrested. We also learned that the other two fellows (Norodin Salik and Esmael Abo) were also arrested," it said. The MILF CCCH reminded its government counterpart that such arrests are considered "prohibited hostile acts" under paragraph 3.1.1 of the Implementing Guidelines of a peace agreement the MILF and government signed in 2001. It added this will "constitute a blatant violation of the MILF–GRP Agreement on the General Cessation of Hostilities." MILF CCCH chairman Von al Haq voiced apprehension that the government operatives are "doing indiscriminate arrest which totally undermines the GRP–MILF peace process." He said the arrests may have been made following the recent bomb blasts that rocked General Santos City, Kidapawan City and Cotabato City last Jan. 10. Al Haq reiterated that the MILF and its members had nothing to do with the recent explosions, adding that the government must not show any hint of undermining the overall the gains and processes involve in the ongoing GRP – MILF peace overtures. I had to do a research project on this group for a class on terrorism and our professor wanted to know why everyone laughed when she said that a place to start finding sources might be to Google "MILF."
