No, not White Anglo Saxon Protestants but the actual animal. Behind my house I have a swarm of them and I noticed this last year too. There are at least 50 flying around at any given time. I have searched and searched for some kind of nest but have not found anything. I noticed they like to hang around the corner of the second story of my house but I saw no nest there either Is there anything that can be sprayed, scattered, etc. in order to repel these damn things away? Should I call an exterminator?

sounds like they found a little whole near that corner. I'd definitely call someone else to take care of it if the nest isnt clearly visible.

    p.s. wasps are insects

That might make a good team name to replace "Clippers". Or is it too close to the Hornets? We have Orioles and Cardinals in baseball.

If you ever do find the nest.....you can spray them with any of the wasp killers out there and they will not attack you....IF you get them early in the morning. I had a huge nest that I had to get rid of so I shot the hive with a full can when the sun first came up that morning. You can totally drench the nest/hive before they even realize it. It takes them a while to wake up apparently. Also, these cans are about 4.00 and you can shoot them from a safe distance. Hope that helps.

Sounds like hornets that are living underground and coming out in the spring.

There are cans of wasp spray that allows you to spray from 10-15 ft away but it's very hard to hit the wasp when they are flying though. You have to spray them when they sit on their nest.
Be careful, those guys sting like crazy and some people can have bad allergic reaction too.
