    As opposed to 2007, when---

    2007 (highest median household income)

Number of counties by state in following lists: Virginia 6, Maryland 5, New Jersey 3, New York 2, California 2, Colorado 1, Georgia 1.

10 of the 20 counties are part of the Washington Metropolitan Area and 5 counties are part of the New York Metropolitan Area. By Census region, 12 counties are located in the South, 5 in the Northeast, and 3 in the West. 16 of the 20 counties are part of the densely-populated Northeast Megalopolis.

    Rank County Median Household Income
    1 Loudoun County, Virginia $107,207
    2 Fairfax County, Virginia $105,241

^Washington DC metropolitan area counties are those with the highest per capita median household income in the country.

There's just this strange Fox News obsession with finding "problems" they seem to have ignored before. I wonder what caused the sudden rash need to disseminate this information?

The implication here is laughable for those who look at the private-public disparity in compensation.

I'd suggest you look up the salary for an attorney at the SEC vs. a first-year associate at Sullivan & Cromwell or any of the Vault 5 or 10, just as an example.

Misleading argument. NYC and Washington DC have some of the highest cost of living in the country. Naturally the median income is going to be higher.

But yes, Washing DC area certainly has a high percentage of 1%ers in the nation.

You're joking. Washington DC has a higher standard of living than Beaumont Texas? Someone call Rush Limbaugh.

Since I live here, "That's what I'm talking about!"

I have to admit, when I was young, I never thought I would make this much money growing up in Syracuse, and here I am now in Washington DC making this much money. Our cost of living is high. But in general everyone has an opportunity to move up the social ladder relatively quickly in Washington DC relatively quickly. I would agree. Business is booming. Home prrices are high, but you can invest in property and scale up fast. To say that we are doing nothing though, creating nothing, and just extracting money is silly. We do a lot of good work here and we work very hard to make peoples lives better.

The largest congregation of lobbyists in the country. Of course the income is out of sight.

Well just another propaganda story to keep the poor Fox besotted in line, Got to keep them upset over biggubment and taxation so they will continue to vote reliably against their own interest and to keep Rupert Murdoch's taxes low.

The part that was actually funny was to see the Channel by and for the elite disparaging the consumption of expensive wine. by folks who can afford to buy it.

What is your business? What is the source of your revenue?

    What do you create?

Household incomes have declined for the past five years, yet DC thrives off the taxpayer. And makes on apologies for it.

Depends who you know, how much you are willing to spend, and how valuable your votes are.

This is the Chicago patronage system instituted on an exponentially larger scale.

Oh they create plenty in DC. Namely corporate friendly, anti-main street legislation.

    Next up on the DVR:

Oh lawd. Measuring the value of a job by what you create? Please, Commodore, at least bring back an argument younger than the 1500s.

Live in DC and am really, really poor especially given what an expensive city it is, but I love it and love what I do. Fact is this where things get done.

It is crazy that a bunch of high paid lawyers would live where laws are created and contested. It is also a shock that the highest paid federal employees would live in the capital.

Aside from that, you are seeing wealth created by government contracts... Much, but not all of them Defense. You are also seeing the privatization of government, which costs more than traditional government workers and serves to enrich the companies more than the people actually doing the work.
