Usually I get my shirts laundered; well I forgot to do it and so I am thinking about maybe washing and ironing my own shirts. Is this advisable anyone have good or bad experiences?
If you are ironing shirts as in heavy starch and the whole nine yards, just stay with a cleaner. It is just better to pay than trying to get the same quality yourself.
This. Plus, when you wanna iron that nice white shirt and the iron produces a mist of rust on your awesome shirt...well, it won't happen. Pay. I take everything for work attire to the cleaners.
i'll assume you're mainly refering to dress shirts....they can fade, lose their shape, and the collar can also get funky if you machine wash them.....usually the darker colors though. The light colors usually take it well and can stretch themselves back with the ironing..
I thought at the dry cleaners they just use chemicals on your clothes, so they aren't truly clean. If you wash it at home you can wash it with actual soap/water in the machine.
They do either. I'm horrible at ironing, just have some sort of mental block that forces me to put gnarly creases in everything.
Just like cooking, if you get the technique down, ironing can be a very enjoyable and validating experience.
Sage advice, my friend. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/n5OQ09BFgLY?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/n5OQ09BFgLY?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
