He did go after the ball. It didnt look as if he were trying to hurt anyone... But on the other hand was it a frustration foul? He does have a freakin attitude problem. Was it last year when he fouled yao hard and got up like he wanted to box him? I've hated him ever since that moment... Just wonder what some of yall think of the play...
Didn't look dirty. He went for the ball and landed on Mcgrady. Even Bill and Clyde said it wasn't a dirty play. Clyde even said back in his days, that would be a clean block.
It was an aggressive play, not dirty. We'd love it if Yao were to do that. If it were Kirilenko he'd be given credit. McGrady over-dramatizing laying motionless face down on the floor like he took a Mike Tyson hit to the chin made it blow up more than it needed to. And maybe Rafer had memory of Mason against Yao.
Clean foul but the guy is a punk, I'm beginning to wonder if Byron Scott is whispering to his ear to not hesitate to tangle with our 2 top players, they come out with the better outcome always
I thought it was clean.... but mason had just had the ball stolen from him. he threw he hands in the air in frustration.......and the play happened....
People are usually overly simplistic about these things. This thread is no different. Was it clean in the sense that it was a pure "basketball" move (i.e., his intention was to block the shot, and nothing more)? Hell no. Mason clearly intended to knock the crap out of McGrady. Was it clean in the sense that he was actually trying to block the shot and not merely plaster/hurt McGrady? Yeah. It's not like he punched him or ignored the ball (or whatever). It's a mixed motives case. Mason pretty obviously didn't need to hit McGrady that hard. In fact, it probably would have been easier to have avoided it. At the same time, it wasn't at the same level as a hit that's intended to take out a player. Why pretend that everything is binary? Mason had two motives on that play.
damm I was hoping for some payback. Eg. Have Bonzi knock the **** out of him the next time he tries to go inisde. Or have Dikembe give him the people's elblow.
Desmond Mason and Bob Sura <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_WMvwJVHYU"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_WMvwJVHYU" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
The Rox is a pretty soft team. Actually the teams that lead NBA are all kind of soft (Suns, Dallas, Spurs, Rox). When the opponent play tough, the rox chokes. I did not have a chance to catch the play. But Mason is a punk, no question about that. If Yao is ever going to throw a punch at someone, I wish it is into Mason's sorry face.
I dont think tmac was doing it on purpose. He was blindsided by mason so it was an unexpected hard knock. He also landed on his wrist and i saw the trainer attending to a small cut on his head during a timeout. If you add all that up and then keep in mind that his back is still in the back of his mind, i wouldnt say that he over-dramatized.
Well I was at the game last night and even early on you could that Desmond was trying to be physical and jerk even off the ball with Tmac. And then right after the foul he gets right up with his arrogant attitude and slaps five with one of teammates with his teammate like he didnt have any remorse. The whole time I just watched him and I could tell something was about to happen and sure enough it was about to until he and Rafer both get thrown out. Desmond is a punk.
he didn't try to hurt mac, but the aggresiveness showed he didn't care if he did. you can block a shot without a collision like that. it's a narrow minded animal mentality.
It looked dirty from where i was sitting (opposite side of the court) but in the replay it clearly showed he didnt do it intentionally. Tmac just lost his balance in the air.
Mason body slammed yao last season......... He is definitely aggressive....dirty or not.. i dont think so!
he was, in my opinion, always dirty against us rather than other teams. I still remember last year when he got blocked by Yao but got pissed and lifted him up and threw him down, man just makes me want to crap right in his face Btw this is what happened <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wWM4K6J_lfw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wWM4K6J_lfw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWM4K6J_lfw
C'mon now, when you try your hardest to block a layup after getting the ball stolen, there is going to be some body contact. To be honest, I've seen T-Mac get hit worst than that. But, the NBA is so soft today so I guess any time somebody hits the floor hard, it's considered a dirty foul. I don't respect Mason anyways since the incident with Yao. Skip should have clocked him for good measure. Or maybe Sura should have ran in and tackled Desmond like he did Josh Howard?
