Foyle hadnt touched it and there was still 0.2 left on the clock. Ball was still on his fingertips at 0.0(if just barely). Good call. According to the rules. Of course, according to the rules, Yao never fouled Howard on Head's layup attempt either.
No it wasn't...because my 2000th BBS post says so. Hahah jk, no I seriously thought it wasn't in after looking at the replays BEFORE the refs made the final call. I thought they would give it to him cause benefit of the doubt, but I'm glad they made the right call.
Honestly, that call was so tough to make but I must give the THREE NBA refs the benefit of the doubt considering that they had the advantage of watching that play on instant replay, frame by frame. Granted, they were making some bogus calls throughout the game but in this instance they had the benefit of instant replay. So to answer your question, the tip in was NOT good. Go Rockets Mutha****a!
it was close but it looked like his finger tip was still on the ball when clock hit 0.00 sec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T86OkLOG20Q
I have it frozen on my tv with foyle's fingers just touching it, the clock at 0.0, and the red light just turning it on (it's like half light - pretty crazy actually). it was no good by the slimmest of margins, can send a photo to anyone from my phone if they want to see for themselves.
I personally couldn't tell because it was too close. I think if you can't be 100% certain then the decision should be that it wasn't good.
On first impression, I believed that the tip was good. However, if you review the video here and freeze frame right when the buzzer hits 0, you can still see Foyle's finger on the ball. http://media.putfile.com/Lets-go-to-the-Replay
3 refs checked it in slow mo and frame by frame, I gonna trust the refs on this one. I saw it on my computer it's no good too, the ball was touching Foyle's fingers.
lol a poll won't decide this. we need one of these two to know for sure: a) a freeze frame showing the red lights on while Foyle's fingertip is still touching the ball (tip in no good, we win!) b) a freeze frame showing the red lights off while there is airspace between Foyle's fingertip and the ball (tip in good, overtime) personally, it was too close for me to tell from the replays we saw on tv. i'm sure someone will come out with a good freeze frame to show either way.
I vote: could go either way. Rox fan---> what care? game over, we won! Magic fan--> OMG that is the worst game-deciding CALL EVER! The ref rigged the game in Rox favor! IF it was the other way round, and rox down by 2, and Yao tip it in, you can bet damn well everyone gonna be flamming about how that should have counted.
The refs made up for this call http://media.putfile.com/Yao-gets-another-Bogus-call--Refs-Racist-plain-and-simple
I think we all agree, it would take 5 houston wins over boston by refs to make up for that horrendous call
