Best Olympic basketball game, maybe. Not even close to the best basketball game, though. There are 50 games each year in the NBA that are better.

No, but it was a great game! Much better than I ever dreamed of. That's enough for me.

Just because it was on a bigger stage doesn't mean it was the greatest game of all time. There was not really a moment in this game were you thought Spain was going to win it.

That was one of the best basketball games I've seen! It was intense from start to finish.

I refuse to consider Olympic basketball the biggest stage for this sport. I understand that it is the Olympics but the NBA is still the mecca of basketball and will be for a long, long time. I'll take an NBA Championship game over an Olympic gold medal game 10 out of 10 times, but that's just me.

in all seriousness- the rockets play at least 3-4 games a year that are more entertaining than that. The only thing that might make this the best for someone is because its the Olympics and because of the 'stage' or w/e. But in terms of pure basketball? Not really.

Yeah me 2 I'd rather the Rockets win a Championship over seeing U.S. when a Gold medal.

This game was definitely a fun / nerve-wracking one to watch. You could tell Spain was playing loose (they had nothign to lose) and the US was pressing for that home-run shot most of the game... so it was definitely a relief to come out on top and great to see our players loving it so much.

As far as best quality of play I've seen? Far from it. Team USA has come a long way in the cohesion department, but we've all seen much better team basketball from NBA teams on a nightly basis... Team USA would need a lot more time together to be able to realistically reach that type of quality of play, although they make up for it in pure talent and athleticism (which lets them apply insane amounts of defensive pressure).

    Still, great win. Go USA!

You must've not been around during the Choke City/Clutch City days. Those games against Phoenix are things of legend.

while i may have been even more into this one, lakers/kings game 7 after the infamous lakers/kings game 6 was pretty great. it was basically game 7 of the finals, was hugely hyped, and ended up going to OT, even with the kings shooting 2-20 on 3's and 15-30 on ft's. and it was extremely well reffed. that was the most into an NBA game that didn't involve the rockets that i've ever been and it was amazingly intense from start to OT finish.

but this game was definitely badass from a big shot perspective. spain just wouldn't stop hitting great shots and the US never had a drought where they failed to come back with big shots. it's hard to think of it as too great since the lead never changed hands after the 1st quarter, but it was still great.

There was a game in 2000 against Luthiana that the US almost lost in the last seconds, that for me was just as intense. It would have been the 1st time ever the US lost using pros. So it could be considered the game that international basketball had "closed the gap", and a precursor for the difficulties ahead.

Not the best basketball game, as there many exciting games over the playoffs and the regular season.

However, the game was exciting for a couple of reasons

    1. Big stage
    2. multiple storylines
    3. Underdog upset possible
    4. Possibility of USA choking
    5. No Defense

I think 99% of us would. But the global theater of Sunday's game made it special in it's own way.
