Sweet! Scientists Find A DNA Change That Accounts For White Skin By Rick Weiss Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, December 16, 2005; A01 Scientists said yesterday that they have discovered a tiny genetic mutation that largely explains the first appearance of white skin in humans tens of thousands of years ago, a finding that helps solve one of biology's most enduring mysteries and illuminates one of humanity's greatest sources of strife. The work suggests that the skin-whitening mutation occurred by chance in a single individual after the first human exodus from Africa, when all people were brown-skinned. That person's offspring apparently thrived as humans moved northward into what is now Europe, helping to give rise to the lightest of the world's races. Leaders of the study, at Penn State University, warned against interpreting the finding as a discovery of "the race gene." Race is a vaguely defined biological, social and political concept, they noted, and skin color is only part of what race is -- and is not. In fact, several scientists said, the new work shows just how small a biological difference is reflected by skin color. The newly found mutation involves a change of just one letter of DNA code out of the 3.1 billion letters in the human genome -- the complete instructions for making a human being. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/15/AR2005121501728_pf.html
PROOF THAT JESUS WAS... ...Black: 1. He called everybody brother. 2. He liked Gospel. 3. He couldn't get a fair trial. ...Jewish: 1. He went into his father's business. 2. He lived at home until the age of 33. 3. He was sure his mother was a virgin, and his mother was sure he was God. ...Irish: 1. He never got married. 2. He never held a steady job. 3. His last request was a drink. ...Puerto Rican: 1. His first name was Jesus. 2. He was always in trouble with the law. 3. His mother did not know who his father was. ...Italian: 1. He talked with his hands. 2. He had wine with every meal. 3. He used olive oil. ...Californian: 1. He never cut his hair. 2. He walked around barefoot all the time. 3. He started a new religion. But the most compelling evidence of all - proof that Jesus was a WOMAN: 1. He had to feed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food. 2 . He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it. 3. Even when he was dead, He had to get up because there was more work for him to do.
Discovery channel did a show once that attempted to generate a model of what he would have looked at, based on evidence of what the regional culture and genetics were like for that time period. This was their image: Now, of course, there's no physical evidence of what Jesus' race was. In fact, there is no physical evidence of his existence at all. Only written records. But (scientifically speaking) in most probability, he did exist and was almost definitely not black. He also proably would not be considered white, either (nor should he).
Of course! Jesus probably had a much closer resemblance to the guy that runs the convenience store down the street.
Ya'll need to lighten up! It's Christmas! The title had nothing to do with the article. I was just playing off the idea that deep down we are all brothers! And I just thought the article was interesting in that it puts forth an interesting hypothesis that the pigment of the skin of all our forefathers was dark. Also I find it amusing that white people are possibly mutants! Dang you white people as soooo sensitive.
He almost certainly didn't look like this: The Europeans painted Jesus to look like other Europeans. The guy was born in Bethlehem. That place is smack dab in between the Israel and Palestinian territories.
Well, his portrayal is a starter in questioning how people interpret His message. Can't deny that people have dedicated causes and money to people with favorable looks....
Of course everybody is a mutant. Otherwise we'd all look like this: National Geographic is maping mutations of genetic markers to map the history of human migration. They have a very visual website on the project at: https://www5.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/atlas.html
