I find these guys so hilarious. A guy stops me before i can cross the street for a light, and asks me, "Have you been following the election and Obama"

I reply, "Yes yes - I've already given to Obama and plan to vote for him, so I'm good"

"Well actually, I'm with the DNC, and blah blah blah....we're looking for money to help give Obama a democratic congress"

    "I am not a democrat"

"But Obama will need a democratic congress to get anything done"

"Then he must not be a good leader - maybe I should switch my vote to McCain"

    "Clinton had a democratic congress"

"only his first 2 years in which he go nothing done - the remaining 6 were with republicans in the house, and before monica lewinsky he and that congress got Nafta done, balanced the budget, and reformed welfare. You should check your facts before making these statements"

the light turned green. I walked away.

I think since the Monica Lewinsky scandal the Republican party has become something else...but that doesn't mean the Dems are saints by any means and while Obama if elected would probably enjoy a supportive congress the first two years, I will be glad to see congress start shifting back to the republican side as well.

Perhaps this is what's necessary to help moderate republicans rise from the dead, and perhaps being hit hard in this election will serve notice to Republicans to move to the center.

I still marvel at how McCain moves to the right and Obama to the center after winning their respective nomination. Both are trying to shake their labels. McCain - to appeal more to his party. Obama - to appeal more to independents.

Either way, No way am I donating to the DNC. Not with the way congress has been going.

You shouldn't have to. I agree that in the past a Republican congress has done well with a Democratic president, but I feel like with all the Blue Dog Dems in Congress and moderates in th Senate, there will be plenty of good legislation under an Obama administration.
