wow i never seen a team with that much toughness, davis, ellis, and someone else looked like they got hit in the stomach and they all played through the pain, Davis is a beast i swear...man that team has some grit only if the rockets were like that
check again. GS: 20-15 Hou: 17-17 Man, I dont care how many crazy shots that team jacks up......If they get into the playoffs 100% healthy, There is NO team who would want to play them in the first round.
I caught the 4th and OT of that one. Its all Baron...he is the heart and soul of that team. without Baron, they arent anything special. one thing tho, I havent been watching SA much, do they look this disinterested in all their games, or do they just crank it up against us?
The Rockets had this Warriors team beat the last time they played, if it weren't for their 4th quarter meltdown.
It doesn't take much cranking to take a weaker team like us out. SA will start peaking near the playoffs.
I only saw the OT. Jack's 3s were clutch. BD was totally exhausted but he still made every pass and the patented step back jumper to put them up by 7 was classic. After TP made the easy layup to start OT and put the Spurs up, I thought the Warriors would wilt. But no, they are a gritty, mentally tough team that can take a punch and get back up. Watching them play at home is an experience. BD sure plays a lot of minutes.
They are an easy team to cheer for due to their gutsy performances. Or was it that they were playing the San Antonio Floppers? Great performance by Davis, and Jackson had all but 2 of his points in the 2nd half/overtime.
Does anyone remember Baron Davis' last years as a Hornet which resulted in him being traded for basically nothing? Hell, his first couple of years as a Warrior wasn't even much to write home about. Also, does anyone know the average number of regular season games he played in the last 6 years before this one? 46.67. He did not play more than 67 games a season in any of these years. Baron Davis is exhibit A to the case against trading Tracy McGrady.
Actually Stephen Jackson is the heart and soul of that team. For all of Baron's talent, he is still an undisciplined shoot first PG if theres no veteran leadership on that team. There was a reason why GS started 0-7 without Stephen Jackson. Sounds weird doesn't it?
They play STUPID basketball, no conscience or sense of timing. But, they are courageous and glad they beat SA. DD
I would have to defer to your knowledge of them as I dont watch them often. It just seems everytime I do see them, it is Baron's gutsy performances which have made the difference. Dak, I had a similar thought while watching them, LOTS of mistakes...which makes it more amazing when they manage to overcome them for wins.
It is their fearlessness that lets them overcome dumb decisions, that and they can really stroke the 3 ball. The put 4 players on the court that can shoot the 3 ball and then add in Biedrens who can finish and you have a decent team. Here is their primary team: Davis - Great penetrator - can shoot the 3 ball Ellis - Great penetrator - Good midrange game, a little 3 ball Harrington - Good midrange - Shoot the 3 ball and has length for D Jackson - Great 3ball - decent size on perimeter and fearless Biedrens - Nice finish in paint - Good rebounder/decent D Then you add in players like : Azubuke - Good penetrator - very nice rebounder & Good 3 ball shooter Pietrus - Good defender - nice length - streaky shooter Barnes - Good hustler/defender - nice length - good 3pt shooter They really spread the floor let their 2 or 3 penetrators go to work and take the jump shot or layup. DD
I caught 4th Q and OT.. I can't help but think.. the healthy Baron is the player Francis could've been if he had been smarter and more diligent/humble..
I admit to being partial, but BD is the "every down" leader of that team. Late in games, he is the one who makes things happen and causes other guys to be open, more than Jackson. Jack is obviously valuable as their 0-7 start proved. The Warriors would be lost without either guy.
This makes me sad. I remember they use to say that about us in 2005 and even last year. Everyone would say: None of the big three (Mavs, Suns, Spurs) would want to face the Rockets! Now we have been replaced by GS.
