These objects are LA,Seattle and Golden St. For weks and months the rockets have been confortable with their stance that, " we're in good position." Well, with these slate of games, they can no longer go by that. This Rockets team as young as they are have been the healthiest they havebeen in yr. No major player have missed significant amount of time .On the other hand, Shaq has missed major time and even the T'Wolves have had Wally for only about 10 or 12 gms. This stretch of games can go along way in the final tally of the season. Right now, it didn't start off easy, but the games can be salvaged. There are no gimmes and excuses as to why this game was lost or that game was lost. We know what kind of stretch LA is capable of going on. GS is a different story and it seems as though Amare is hittin the wall now. I'm not really worried about what the Rockets can't control, whats bothersome is when will this team come together this yr and say,"let do it!" You hate to base an entire season on 10 games, but its really going to come down to that. If the Rockets don't at least go .500 in these next 10, then they will be in major ,major trouble. We as Rockets fans wil be watching the playoffs again talking about how young this team is again.

I agree the Rockets are loosing it, FAST!!

Everybody was so confident that we would be in a race for the 4th-6th spot. But now unless a miracle saves the Rockets (by keeping the Lakers out of the playoffs), they will be back to the lottery watching Memphis take their pick.

At this point, I dont care if Rox can make it to playoffs this year. Even if they do, so what, a low seeded contender play for the first week of playoff then gone fishing. I am more concerned that Rox can establish a winning style that can consistently beat teams worse than them and compete closely against better team. I hate say this, and I am not a "closet jazz fan", the Jazz team is exactly that kind of team. Sadly, Rox should play for next year now, play more boki, even Tito. Rebuilding is still in process, folks.

If they don't make the playoffs with this cast of players, I want Rudy gone.

If he can not get through to them, then we need a new coach.

I agree. I think that settles it. That should be the extent of Rudy bashing right there. If the Rockets don't make the playoffs this year, then we need a new coach.

Feishen, getting into the playoffs even when losing in the first round would be huge! Just getting that first experience is the important thing. If you expected the Rockets to do much better than the first round of the playoffs you were probably sound asleep and dreaming.

The season is over. I'm with Feishen. Player development uber alles. I spit on your 8th seed. All or nothing at all.

Getting into the playoffs is paramount this year. We MUST get the experience. As heypartner pointed out, even a good a$$ whipping could do wonders for some of our guys. They might realize a game has four quarters and to win consistently you have to play as a team for the ENTIRE game.

Play as 8th seed against Dallas in Francis, Ming, E.G.'s first playoff
series. I see this more as diasaster than experince. :D

I don't agree. I don't agree at all. Some of our players think that if they can only get to the playoffs it'll be one grand Sportscenter moment after another. Of course I hope they beat whoever they face, and I think they will make it to the dance, but they need some of their cockiness stomped out of them. It seems to have no affect in the regular season, but if it happens during the playoffs perhaps it'll stick. And if it doesn't, no one on the team, with a couple of obvious exceptions (to me), should be safe. And that includes the staff.

The title should be like this, which, incidentally, is what's found on actual rear view mirrors of Kia cars and SUVs:

People laughing at you in the mirror are closer than they appear.

As somebody pointed out earlier, we are the laughing stock of the NBA. With the talent we have, there is no execuse for this kind of pathetic play.

I hate the Rockets. I hate Rudy. I hate our stagnant offense. I hate it when Mobley shoots and when Steve dribbles. Damn shooting guards shooting and point guards dribbling.....AGH! I am so upset right now I could EXPLODE! We are surely destined for lottery greatness year after year with this team.

I am ready to give up on this team. DAMN, I wish Clutch would have left this site a Spurs website from April Fool's in 99.

I am going to go shoot myself in the face now.

Too much is being placed on making the playoffs. Sure, it would be nice to see the Rockets in the playoffs, but the goal should be to win a championship someday. Losing in the first round this year does nothing to further accomplish that goal. There's no trophy for making the playoffs. I don't buy all this "they need to feel what it's like to be in the playoffs" stuff. There's no standard rite of passage where you must go from one round one year to the next round the next until finally, you're in the Finals. Either you're good enough to win a championship, or you're not. The Rockets are not right now. When they get good enough, it won't be because they followed some formula for advancing through each round year-to-year. Bottom line is missing out on an early first round exit is nothing to be upset about, ever, and it shouldn't be used as a benchmark for anything.

To further explain my point, there are several teams that you can count on to make the playoffs EVERY year, but you know they'll be eliminated before it counts. Every team in the East this year and the last few years, for example. Utah and Minnesota every year. When people say "look at Detroit, why can't the Rockets be like them?", you're really asking why can't the Rockets be playoff fodder for the rest of their careers. Making the playoffs every year doesn't change the fact that Detroit will never win a championship with the players they have.

That is jibberish. You always want to make the playoff, if for no other reason then to get a shot at the title. Do you think Minnesota ever wishes, "gee lets just miss the playoffs this year and come back next year, maybe we'll do better." With no lottery ball this year, the only reason anyone would wish the rockets miss the playoffs would be so Rudy can get fired. Besides that, I still wish the team to get the best seed possible. Who knows, maybe we are regular season floppers, but playoff kings. Maybe Rudy can work some of his old magic in the playoffs... once in, you always have a shot.

As far as teams making the playoffs and never winning it, yes, there are tons of those. However, name me 1 team in the last 30 years that have won the championship without going to the playoffs the previous season.

I dont want Memphis getting yet another lottery shot.

Too bad we can't hire Lucas as a mid-season consultant.

No offense, but that is biggest bunch of BS I have read in quite a while.

What the hell is a team suppose to do? Go from the lottery straight to the Finals?

In Hakeem's rookie season and Sampson's 2nd we made the playoffs and lost to the Jazz (may they rot forever) in the first round 3-2. The next year, Hakeem's 2nd and Ralph's 3rd season, we went to the Finals after plastering the Showtime Lakers 5-1... losing in 6 games.

I can't believe that the 1st round exit to the Jazz wasn't a vital learning experience for that team.
