Get to work with JCF! http://www.nba.com/rockets/media/become_the_rockets_media_inter_2010_07_19.html Houston - I’ve said it before and I’ll surely say it again: I’ve got the best job in the world. How else to describe a gig that allows you to eat, sleep and breathe basketball, while working with some of the most creative minds in the business? Better yet: when talking hoops with the likes of Yao Ming, Shane Battier and Daryl Morey gets old – which it never does, by the way – I can always sweet talk Sweet Susie into allowing me time for an interview with a Rockets Power Dancer. Tough life. But I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no reason for me to horde this embarrassment of Rockets riches to myself. I want to share the wealth and find someone who can help take our website to an even higher level, be it with their wit, insight and creativity, or simply through the sheer force of their personality. So here’s the deal: I’m offering an internship for someone to serve as my understudy during the Rockets’ 2010-11 season. No, you’re not going to be fetching coffee or anything like that – we’re putting you to work. You’ll be writing stories, shooting videos and recording podcasts for Rockets.com; quite simply, everything I do for our website you’ll be doing too. Now for the particulars pertaining to your application. It’s quite simple really. Just send me (email only, please) a 500-word essay on anything Rockets-related that tickles your fancy. Basically, I’m looking for the literary equivalent of Aaron Brooks appearing on national TV rocking a Rockets red blazer and a tight bow tie. Stand out. Be bold. Wow me. Deadline for submissions is July 30. This internship is available to full-time students only and you’ll need to be able to arrange to live in Houston for the entirety of the 2010-11 regular season. Please note that this is NOT a paid gig and candidates applying must be preapproved by their academic advisors/professors to be credit-eligible for at least one, if not two semesters so you can receive course credit for your work. Internship begins mid-September. Best of luck to everyone. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
This would be a dream job for me. Work with the Rockets, regularly have conversations with Battier, Yao, and Morey. Plus you get inside access to the Powerdancers locker room?
dang... I will be a full time student, but somehow I don't think that I can get education credits for interning with Jason for the year.
Hmmm Im gonna give this a shot. Im going to school, and work full-time...so if I'm fortunate enough to get it I'll definitely find a way to intern.
Duh! Who wouldn't. But to actually get the opportunity to do this as a JOB after the internship would be a dream come true for most. This would be one job I would TRUELY LOVE.
Sounds like a fun internship!! I was the web intern and got course credit for my internship class at UofH. One of best decisions I've ever made in my college years even though I wasn't paid. I miss it there.
There was this guy who I worked with who was an intern...he just graduated from college and he was getting paid minimum wage...
