Just noticed this on rockets.com . http://www1.nba.com/rockets/news/ask_carroll.html?nav=SiteFragment Ask the GM Carroll Dawson Carroll Dawson, or "CD" as he is affectionately known, has been involved with the Rockets organization for 21 years, including the past five as the executive vice president of basketball. Dawson has worked as an assistant under the last four Rockets head coaches (Del Harris 1980-83, Bill Fitch 1983-88, Don Chaney 1988-92 and Rudy Tomjanovich). CD is the only person to be on the four coaching staffs that have led the Rockets to their NBA Finals appearances (1981, 1986, 1994 and 1995). Dawson is known throughout the NBA for his work with frontcourt players, with Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Ralph Sampson, Elvin Hayes and Tomjanovich among the big men he has coached. A native Texan, Dawson hails from Alba, population 200, about 75 miles east of Dallas. As a 6-5 high school center, he led Alba High to a 44-3 record as a senior. He then went on to win Junior College All-America honors at Paris, TX. He was inducted into the Paris Hall of Fame in 1991. After two seasons at Paris, Dawson moved on to Baylor University where he earned All-Southwest Conference honors during his senior season (1960). During the fall of 1998, Dawson was inducted into the Baylor University Hall of Fame. CD led Baylor in scoring and rebounding in both seasons, including a 16.4 scoring average in his senior season. In 1963, Dawson returned to Baylor as an assistant to Head Coach Bill Menefee. He succeeded Menefee as head coach in 1973 and remained in that position for more than three seasons. If you have anything you would like to ask CD, now is your chance! Go ahead and ask CD if he taught Hakeem Olajuwon any of his patented moves, or what it's like behind-the-scenes when the Rockets engineer a trade. Just send CD an e-mail and he will respond to a few of your questions each Wednesday throughout the season right here at rockets.com. In case for some reason you missed it in the article, the email to send CD questions is andreww@rocketball.com%20?subject=Carroll%20Dawson ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs."
