Want a championship? Trade TM for Kobe...

I don't know how Kobe and Yao will work out. But I do know the current dual core of TM and Yao will NOT earn a championship. With this dual core, Rockets will be an elite team but not the No.1 team to win a title. If our management team wants a title, they got to pull the trigger to trade one of them. Given current choices, trading TM for Kobe is a better and more realistic choice. Keeping both Yao and TM = no championship. Mark my words...

Not that Tmac and Yao won't win Championships, but I do think that Kobe and Yao means instant...YES INSTANT CHAMPIONSHIP!!! It's too bad Morey have to stick with loyalty. Tmac's value is as high as Kobe right now...so why not pull the trigger. Kobe's desire to win is unmatched by anyone on the court other than Yao!! Kobe literally WILL his way to win by attacking the hoop and create contact in order to get to the line time after time.

I wouldnt go as far as saying Tmac and Yao cant win a ring but I think the starting line up could be upgraded, whether its trading Battier, Rafer, Hayes or whoever.

um yes, his desire to win is so great that he blew a 3-1 lead just like tmac. failed to make the playoffs the first yr w/o shaq. and lost 4-1 last yr in the first round.

when u play w/ shaq who put up 30, 15, 3 routinely in the playoffs, i would think it's EASIER to show your "desire to win"

To all those kobe wankers, can you all tell me if kobe was that good, why was his team failed to get past 1st round playoffs the last 3 seasons?

Because his teammates suck? Come on, if kobe was that good he should be able to make his teammates better! Michael Jordan made stiff like Luc Longley double digits scorer why cant kobe did that to kwame? Blaming his own teammates is a lame excuse! Truth is, he is a selfish player who dont know how to play with others. Pair him with Yao in the rockets uniform, yes they will be competitive but the end result will be the same, wont get pass the 1st round. Because kobe will make Yao the biggest stiff in the NBA!

This is the same technique Jordan use as well. They both attack the hoop to draw fouls and get to the line so their team stay close and competitive. Tmac's desire to attack is not his 2nd nature...and often fall in love with jump shooting especially when he gets 1 or 2 baskets in. He's a jump shooter and as everyone knows....no matter how good of a shooter you are...there are times when nothing is going your way...that's when you have to attack. Tmac attack ONLY when he wants to and then fall back to jump shooting again. There are games where he attacks and gets the team back into the game and then as soon as he starts happy jump shooting again...the team fall behind. Unquestionably, Tmac does not possessed the same desire of will and competitive nature of Kobe and Jordan...just because he still does not get it or shall i say...it's just not in him.

if u watch this season, the lakers play better when kobe shoots less, touches the ball less, and play less minutes. not a coincidence.

a small sample, but last yr they were 3-2 w/o kobe in the lineup.

what kind of statement is this?

if they trade tmac for paul milsap...i might not agree with that, but i'll still watch the rockets......and i will be pissed off

Exactly! Lakers are in fact better team with kobe shooting less!
They have decent players, Odom, Bynum, Evans, Farmar, Walton, Radman, kwame(underrated post defender). Their only addition last summer was Fisher. Mihm coming back from injury. Look at their roster, personally i feel is better than the rockets!

They are playing great mainly is because like you said, kobe is shooting less and less minutes played.

Conclusion, kobe doesnt make his teammates better unlike MJ or Tmac!

It's pretty sad to see that many basketball fans here forgot the fundamental rule of basketball. Basketball is a TEAM game, so upgrade the players surrounding the core of Yao and T-MAC! IBTL.

as i said in another thread. tmac for Kidd (with salary fillers) makes sense and is fair for both teams(talent, injury history, condition, etc.). what do you guys think?

I would agree with this trade because Kobe is not made of glass like T-mac.

Skill and talent wise, they are pretty equal. But someone would have to chop off both Kobe's legs for him to not play. :D

Such a thread should be banned. I am really tired of this.
Kobe is a great player but not that better than tmac.
I do not think Kobe would lead to a championship with Yao in coming years.

What does it mean to be a "Rockets fan?"

Do you support the players? If all 15 players are traded and a new set is brought in, are they still "The Rockets?"

Do you support the coaching and style of play? What if that changed?

The owners? They're the most constant entity over the past 20 years.

Do they garner support because "this is my city?" If you lived somewhere else, would you have still been a rockets fan?

Maybe it's the history and past players that warrant your affection.

Whatever your reason is, mine is this: The franchise has, to the best of my knowledge, been the paradigm of integrity and family in their pursuit of championships. Even disgruntled stars (Francis) are able to adhere to those ideas.

Unfortunately, those are two ideas that Kobe definitely does not represent. I do not want Kobe, just like I don't want Rasheed Wallace, Lattrell Sprewell, Stephen Jackson, Ricky Davis or any other pompous jack*ss that has ever stepped on a basketball court. Winning be damned.

If the Rockets do choose to trade away quality players, in both skill and personality, to acquire Kobe and his "instant gratification" - then they are no longer MY Rockets, and I will choose not to watch any more games until the situation is fixed.

This does not make me any less, or any more, of a "fan" than the next person, whatever his or her reason for fan-ship may be.

We are not the Yankees. We do not buy championships.

so I suppose when Yao is not doing well and T-mac has by his absence showed everyone who was really leading the Rockets to wins after wins, YOFs think up another way to attack T-mac by proposing to trade him, as if all these losses were his fault! How briliant!

Why, it makes you think, do they not propose a Yao for Kobe or Yao for Howard trade? Surely that will be a much bigger upgrade for the Rockets than a T-mac - Kobe trade?

    Tmac has a center , Kobe doesn't. That's a big difference
