This was a post found in ESPN.com regarding Yao Ming

When he got to Houston he was measured at 7'6 1/2" and weighed 298 lbs.

At the end of the year he was listed at 7'6 1/2" and 305 lbs.

Now he is being listed over in China by their team for the upcoming Asain games at 7'7" and 320 lbs.

Apparently all those Yao will never put on any weight or get stronger people are just morons. To put this in perspective for Yao to me measuring in at 7'7" 320 now at 22, Shaq was only 7'1" and 305 at 22.

I am just wondering how freaking tall is he going to be? He's grown 2 inches in the last year.

7' 7" that is starting to sound a little too tall. There going to have to make the goal higher.

You found a "post on ESPN.com regarding Yao Ming?"

    Ok, thanks.

Was it some guy named, "John" on an ESPN BBS?

Or was it a quote from Yao's trainier in China?

    Sources matter.

No, it was a post from some guy on the messageboards. He didn't give a link either. I don't believe it.

I fail to see your point. Yao was measured @ the beginning of the season to be 7'6 1/2 WITH SHOES ON. Being 22, he could very well have had a growth splurt of 1/2 inch. Or it could just be the cm to inch conversion rounded off cuz in China they use cm. So I don't see your point. As for weight, he's so skinny it's not surprising he would put on some with weight training. The 320 lb is a bit far fetched though.

I don't believe it, Yao is 7-5 1\2, and he is most likly still 7-5 1\2. He could be around 320 though, but I think 300 is more like it.

Get real, if Yao is now 7-7 & 320 .... I'm sure we'll be hearing the news from everywhere .... not just someone from the espn "board"...

Coming from someone who knows a little bit about working out in college football and was a Kinesiology Major...it is very reasonable that YAO added 15-20 lbs in a summer.

I went from 240 after a knee operation to 275 in a matter of 3 months. So...with this said, this is very easily done with proper training and diet. So...BELIEVE IT.

Now as for Height, he could have easily grown to be another inch tall...that isnt hard at all for a guy at 22 years old according to my Kinesiology Professor...DR.BLOOM (30+ years)...at the Univ of Houston. YAO can easily be 7'7 and 320 now.

That isnt a hard gain at all. It is scientific fact.

    I know Yao's exact measurements.

    Chest 72",

    Waist 48",

    Hip 72".

In other words, Yao's in very fine shape(36,24,36 multiplied by 2).

He would also be getting to big to play basketball. I don't want Yao to get any taller than he is right now, the taller he gets the more clumsy he gets and the risk of injury increases.

This is absolutely true. With the right diet and weight training it's very possible to put on a good 20 healthy pounds of muscle in just a few months.

Dont be absord(sp?)! YAO has been playing at 7'5 already for several years...if he grows 2 inches it isnt a big difference. The dude is a gifted athlete and is use to being this tall. He has great feet...YAO will be fine at 7'8 if he grows at a slow pace. Only time you get clumsy is when you grow too fast.

    Plus...

Im sure some of you have seen him in person. He isnt like Shawn Bradley (ie. STICK BOY).

Yao is a big guy and he thick. His legs are huge. Yao will be 340 in a few years and he will hold it just fine and move just as well as long as it is all done properly with weight training and diet.

    Intresting...very intresting...

Even if Yao doesn't again weight I think he will have gotten stronger to combat the likes of Shaq

Now, I want to know Taylor and Cato's measurements after a summer of cheescake factory!

320lb is too much and I cannot believe Yao would grow another 1/2 inch at 22. He's 7'5".

This thread is starting to sound a little like the legend of Paul Bunyan.
