In light of Croshere's 7 mil deal.
I don't feel so bad about Walt's paycheck
    or Cato's.

Are they inflated but. . . not that much.

Think about it. Horry makes . . what
5 mil? Who would u rather have? Him or Cato?
Him or Walt [I might conceed this one . .I
    still like Horry]

Think about the paycheck some others are
making . . . Walt and Cato are not *that*
    bad.

    Would i trade walt? YES!!!
[I've even stated i'd trade him for a ham
sammich and cash] BUt I'm beginning to
rethink it. I will give walt 20~25 games
If he starts like he did last year . .
I'll scream Bloody murder. . . until then
I think i'll lay off my Walt Bash a thon.

Give Walt a chance. The rockets will be over .500 this year for sure and may even get into the playoffs. When things are going well, every player looks good. Look at Scottie Quitten.

At least Croshere puts forth effort on the court. I can't say that Cato did last year.

My problem with Walt is that he has Eddie-Johnson-Knees. His man can usually just blow by him.

I like Walt. I watched the last 50 games of last season and you could tell he was simply getting more comfortable with the team (and the offense) as time passed. And his defense and athletecism weren't all that bad. He got several NASTY blocks and had a few pretty sweet dunks last season. Besides, his man didn't light him up on nearly the consistent basis that Quitten's did.
Also, he showed a lot more heart that Quitten when he slugged Bradley, that was best part of last season! [IMG] My point is, I'm much happier with Walt than Quitten so I'm grateful for what we have. And guess what guys, we're paying him LESS!

Compare the stats while comparing the salaries:

    Quitten
    12.5 PPG
    6.3 RPG
    5.0 APG
    117 Steals
    41 Blocks
    208 Turnovers
    17-19 mill per year? [IMG]

    Walt
    10.9 PPG
    4.0 RPG
    2.1 APG
    49 Steals
    44 Blocks
    113 Turnovers
    5.5 mill per year

I think we get more bang for the buck with Walt.

Another salary to make the Walt/ Cato deals
    look quite nice:

    Ron Mercer's 4 years at 27million

    That's almost 7 million a year... for
    Ron Mercer!!!

I know he scores decently.. but 7million
a year????? Sure makes Cato look like a
bargain - and as for Walt's paltry 4.8mill
    paycheck for this year....

I know Pippen is a jerk but it would have been bad ass to see Pippen,Mobley, and Francis on the same court. I hate to say it
but if we had Pippen we would have made the playoffs last year. [IMG]

The size discrepancy between Pippen and Francis is too great. There is no way he could fit underneath Steve's skirt. He even had trouble with MJ, who was 6'6". Every now and then he would fall out from underneath and post a decent game. That would have never worked with Steve Francis.

    AGGGGHHHHH No!!!!

    I'll change my ways.
I thought that something was weird today...
my head hurt and my breath smelled like choc-
olate. I reversed the effects of the assim-
ilation with a little bit of sweet tea (have
to be careful, I've been spelling that 'sweat
    tea' lately).

"I agree" with your previous post.

Poor Achebe - seems you are quite blue,
And when you try it a time or two it seems
that Rocket River seems to have the style
    to end all styles!!

Or more likely Finn* seems to have pressured
you into making a change. What does it say
on the introductory screen to Clutchcity?
Don't fight the future?? I'm on the
    bandwagon [IMG]

Walt has been the NBA's "Hot Potato." Whoever gets stuck with the final year of his contract is a Sucker! The Rockets will be the team to change that. We make good things happen for good players (fishing Elie out of the CBA-- soon to be followed by Moochie). Walt is such a Bargain. Let's keep him through the end of his contract and then sign him for the MAX! [IMG]

Rocket River, you're proposed Williams trade is ludicrous. We cut Two Sammiches last year. Why on earth would we trade for a single sammich. Don't even get me started on the CBA and it's provisions for cold cut trades. I know it's the offseason, but at least make the trades you propose feasible. Perhaps Walt for two bagels would work. Nice stats Dennis. If you can, go back and find the minutes. I'm sure Quitten played more minutes than Walt, also.

    Walt
