What would you guys think about aquiring Wally from the Timberwolves? Last year he averaged around 18 ppg and this year he is riding the pine because of Spree. Do you think that we should try and pursue him and have him come off the bench and have him come off the bench? Just a thought. What do you guys think?

nope, I hate how he has absolutely no d and disappears in the playoffs. Plus he'll probly be asking for quite a bit and we can get someone adequate for cheaper.. probly.

Wally doesn't have a max contract. I don't want to defend the guy. If Rudy were still coach, he'd go after Wally if he could, given his propensity for white small forwards (i.e., "The Next Rudy," see also, Damn Lanky, Mirsad Turkcan, Boki Nachbar).

We need a shooter at the 3, but have nothing we'd give up to get him, and could find such a player elsewhere. Pass.

That is a dumb ass statement. Rudy never looked specifically for a white small forward or the next "Rudy T." Maybe you forgot that Horry was not white and did not play like Rudy T.

I'll be surprised if we do any deals during the offseason within our division that benefit us more than the other team. And if it's a wash that makes both teams "better", then why does either team take the chance?

edit: signing someone's restricted free agent, though, is something else entirely.

I don't know about Rudy T seeing the next Rudy T in Wally Szerbiak. The guy is the opposite of Rudy T the player. All offense and no D, questionable heart and fragile as Faberge egg.

I don't think Szerbiak could survive in JVG's system anyway.

    Wally? Are you kidding me?

Ask how much more money Walley make than Jim, and then ask yourself why Wally?

He is a black hole, no defense, no guts, soft, has nothing to show during their couple of playoff seasons.

Two years ago, trading him for Cat made all the sense in the world, Now though, it seems like I was on Cocaine for thinkin that.

Wally does NOT make the max. A max 6 year deal would be 80+ mil, not 65 mil like Wally has. In fact you could trade Mot (7.8 mil) or Cato (7.4 mil) for Wally (8.0 mil) without touching our trade exemption.

I am not a huge fan and leary of his injury history, but yeah I would trade Cato or MoT strait up for him. I would not offer much more than that though.

it may not be a max contract, but its damn close. 8 mill this season, 9 the next, 10 the next, 11 the next, 12 the next, 13 in his final year.

I just don't see Wally Z as a Rocket. Do the TWolves need Cato when they already have Kandi and Ervin Johnson or Taylor @ $8+m to backup Garnett? The Rockets have Mobley, JJax, Pike, AGriff, and Boki competing for SG/SF minutes a long with the minutes Francis gets at the 2. On the surface, it doesn't make sense for either team.

Just my opinion, but I'd be very surprised if Wally Z was real high on the Rockets' summer wish list. I'll probably get flamed, but the Vecsey rumor of Croshere for Taylor makes more sense roster wise than Wally given the number of SG's and SF's the Rox have.
