I know alot of people in the BBS are trying to pull for a new pg, while others want to wait 4 Sura becuase he can be the one to put us "over the top"... Id like to know what you guys think w/ a poll and an explination. If you pick NO tell us why and who you think should take his place & sames goes w/ picking YES.

I gota go w/ Can't Decide. I belive last night Bill said Sura is only 2 weeks away so thats somthing we should wait 4. But who knows how long Sura will take to pick up JVGs system or learn how to play with Yao/T-Mac. Its riskyy.

To be honest I dont know what people are expecting from BSura? He is not a PG, he is not the type of player that will get people the ball in the right spots. He doesnt have great court vision, and the biggest knock on him would be that hes a crappy 3pt shooter.

    BSura 3pt FG% 2002 GSW - 32.9%
    BSura 3pt FG% 2003 DET - 25 %
    BSura 3pt FG% 2003 ATL - 27.9%

This is not what we are looking for in a PG.. he is a SG in a PG body and I think we have had one of those before.

but he does bring something we need to the table.. he brings toughness and quickness on the perimeter. He is not as quick as Lue but hes taller.

so to be honest I dont really see BSura as the answer to our PG problems and we are setting ourselves up for disappointment.

    Antonio Daniels intrigues...

    Yao Ming
    Maurice Taylor
    Jim Jackson
    Tracy Mcgrady
    Antonio Daniels

Bob Sura coming in to relieve both Mcgrady and Daniels
    Juwan Howard to relieve Taylor
    Mutombo to relieve Yao
    Nachbar to relieve Jackson ocassionally

    Thats a team...

Not too sure about this. He is definitely NOT a SG in a PG body. He's actually on the verge of being a really small SF. He is a pretty big guy and at the very least, offensively, he will cause the smaller point guards serious problems as having him around will give you a legitimate post up threat and cause a number of potential mismatch switchoffs. He may not be the ultimate answer, but he will help this team tremendously.

oh of course.. I think BSura will make us a deeper team and brings much needed quickness and size on the perimeter but he is not a PG and that seems to be our biggest weakness right now.

    My Hope for PG.

    Decision Making
    Handles
    3pt Shooting
    Leadership
    Quickness on the Perimeter

I want someone who can handle the ball, make good decisions, shoot the 3 (spacing) and provides leadership.

This doesnt sound like too much to ask but for some reason we dont have anyone like that.. which is sad.

BSura is backup SG more than anything.

I'm all for going back in time and making a bigger push for Brent Barry, personally.

Why do some people think that a guy who:

    1. had back surgery less than 2 months ago.

    2. won't get back to full speed for a while.

    3. can't shoot.

    4. and is not a PG

is going to be the savior of this team? I liked adding Sura to this team, he is going to be a nice role player one day. But we have bigger problems that aren't going to be solved by Bob Sura.

I'll wait for Sura before any big changes. But like Room4rent said, some of ya'll are going to be very dissapointed.

I dunno what we should do, but we sure as hell need to do something with that trade exception, no question.

We probably could have made a bigger push for Daniels as well. I think initially we were trying to just absorb his salary if Seattle was in cost cutting mode. But by the time we were willing to give up a 1st rounder for him, he is exploding with Seattle. :(

Sura will take time to fit and be productive but we don't have many options because apart from Yao and T-Mac our other players have limited or no trade value.
We are unlikely to get a quality starting PG.

JVG on 610 this morning said he is still a long time away from being ready to play. He said it would be about mid Dec.

    Sura is the X factor.

Sura is a versatile player who can play PG/SG/SF

I bet Sura also knows how to get more than 1 assist a game.
Also I bet he knows how to pass to Tmac or Yao.

Let's not expect too much from Sura. The situation we're in this year reminds me a little bit of the situation last year when a lot of people expected Pike to be huge for this team. Well, he wasn't.

I really think that Sura should be more of a factor than Pike but he is not the savior of this team and I believe he will not solve our PG problem.

What are you basing this on? We thought Pike was going to be able to knock down 3's all night, but could never get into rythm, something I think we will see with Sura.

I think Sura will help. Not so much because of the production he will bring, but because the mindset he brings. He’s a very aggressive player and I think that’s one the biggest things the Rockets are lacking. Opposing teams consistently get to the free throw line more then us. No one on this team attacks the basket on a consistent basis, not even T-Mac. Choosing to instead settle for jumpers.

Hopefully, Sura can come in and not only contribute but also help change the attitude of the other players on the team. I’d never thought I’d say this, but we need a loose canon on the team. Someone that is fearless. The two point guards we have now are very passive. They play scared and I think it kind of trickles down to everyone else.
