I'm glad to see that both Wafer and the coaching staff have put the incident in the playoffs behind them. If we can sign Wafer to a portion of the MLE, I'm all for bringing him back. Maybe something along the lines of what Landry got last off-season?

"good to see both of you want to be back with team. here's the offer i put together for you guys. ron, you will get the mle money for 4 years. von, you get 2mil per for 3 years. now take them back home and talk to your agents and think about it. get back to me in 2 weeks. and you're welcomed to go out and test the market."

Awesome, Wafer. Play hard in summer camp, and you should be able to earn an offer for a 2-year minimum contract with a third-year player option. For someone going into his fifth year in the league, that will be pretty good money.

I think staying with the Rockets would be his best situation also. All depends if he can accept the low offer Morey no doubt will give. I'm sure there are other teams looking for a scoring wing, but I'm not sure Wafer is top of that list.

I very much agree on all accounts. If they can sign him for about $3 mil per, I'm all for it.

I love his scoring ability and the fact that he can create his own offense, even if he tried to do it too much sometimes. He can slash, has a decent mid-range game and can shoot the 3 ball. I actually wish he got more PT when McGrady went down. In my opinion, we needed a legit SG in the lineup instead of two SFs. Either Battier or Artest should have been coming off the bench.

If you want a happy player you don't offer him less money than he's making already. Morey is going to give Ron that 4yr/37M deal at a minimum. I just hope its not more after he tests the free market.

a gm's first priority is to make his boss happy, not his players. and ron, as much as i like him, is not someone that we have to have.

Someone in the comments in that link said to pick up Shaq for T-mac. We could have the slowest Twin Towers ever :D

Also would love to have Von back, I think he provides that scoring off the bench that we need... he's also one of the few guys on our team that can dunk the ball and provide energy. It's very important to get Von back, and I hope that Rick Adelman incident doesn't hold any of this contract stuff back.

I too like Wafer but if he does walk I wouldn't be too dissapointed. I'd like to see what James White does this summer and how it carries over into the season. He looks like a he has a pretty nice stroke and he can't be worse than Wafer defensively and he's going to be a lot cheaper.

If we can lock him in for 4 to 5 years that would be great. 2-3mill a year.

I would say 11 mil 4 years w/ team rights to terminate on the 4th year.

No, that will be Artest if he re-signs.

Agreed. If we resign Artest, Wafer is expendable. Priority should go to signing backup center using the MLE since Deke retired.

I'd rather have him than Ron Ron......if Ron's ego is still out of whack.

I loved the emotion he and Artest brought to the floor. Both have a lot of work to do on the off season.

Bring this man back. The talk of low bball IQ is exaggerated.

He does need to put a lot of work into his game but he can and does pass the ball, he does work hard on the court and I think he will come back next season as a much improved player. Sure, he is never going to pass like McGrady or play defense like Shane but he can improve in both of those areas and get smarter offensively.

I'd give wafer another season with us. He has great ability and could improve greatly. However, if he doesnt learn how to play team ball, get rid of him.

With the team that you have, you are really limited as to what you can do. But i'd say you guys need at least 1 top flight scorer off the bench. You also need a star at the pg spot. If you guys had chris paul to go along with this team minus yao you guys would be dangerous

    Chris Paul
    Artest
    Battier
    Scola
    Thabeet

    Barbosa off the bench

This is not going to happen, but that's what you guys need.
