Remember in the beginning of the season the rockets had to pick either Wafer or Strawberry...both were playing great in training camp aren't we glad we picked Wafer
Not going to lie, I thought strawberry was the better choice before wafers 7 3-pointers during the last pre season game against Memphis. Only reason I thought this was because during the scrimmage before pre season, wafer was like 1-48384 and he kept chucking.
Strawberry probably could play in the NBA today. I thought he was a better pick in the preseason but I was wrong. Wafer has exceeded expectations and then some. Nevertheless I don't think it's fair to bash Strawberry until he gets a fair shake on a team.
Yeah I thought Strawberry was the better pick since I have never seen anything from Wafer... But man have I changed my mind...
Count me in the group that preferred Strawberry as well. Von seems to be back to his January level of play, and hopefully he can sustain it this time well into the playoffs. When he's on his game, he's huge for us off the bench.
I don't even remember Strawberry anymore lol. Although, I think I was one of the folks that was on the Strawberry boat.
i was on the wafer bandwagon before it even started, i could tell his offense skills were unique, i didnt think he'd ever get extended minutes though because of tmac..
I also thought strawberry was the better "fitter" for Rockets, the only reason is that Rafer *SUCKS*. I would not imagine Tmac could go down like that, so Wafer prob wont get alot mins under him.
It wasn't even a debate for me, I knew Wafer was better even before that game in Memphis in the preseason, I am not sure why this wasn't obvious to others
im not gonna lie before the season i only heard of von wafer's name because of this.... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/I9TA4-0JRaM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/I9TA4-0JRaM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> now i'm glad to have him on our side because of this........ <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jtf5F8j4zYE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jtf5F8j4zYE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
He has a lot of potential, and he has shown good passing abilities. I can't wait to see what this guy could become. I thought the Rockets themselves claimed they was little chance for Wafer (heard it somewhere, I could be wrong), but damn has this dude exploded. He is adjusting to defenses really well, assuming the league took good notice of him.
The only thing I liked about Strawberry was his defense and height. He had no playmaking skills nor did he have an outside shot. He is a backup 1,not a 2 guard. Wafer's shooting in the pre-season gave him the edge since it was obvious he was going to be a backup 2 despite his defensive weaknesses.
