The playoff race in the East is pretty interesting now ~ amazing that Wade is ready to return. _______ Wade on active roster for Heat Dwyane Wade's comeback from a dislocated left shoulder is nearly complete. The Miami Heat guard was on the team's active roster Sunday against Charlotte, marking his first time in uniform since he suffered the injury Feb. 21 in Houston. He was inactive for 23 games, but has been rehabbing for about a month and returned to practice with the team last week. Wade was not in Miami's starting lineup, but was available to play off the bench. Dorell Wright was inactive, making room for the reigning NBA finals MVP on the active 12-man roster. The Heat did not have a shootaround practice Sunday morning, but held a walkthrough session about two hours before tip-off against the Bobcats. Wade participated in that and, shortly afterward, the team decided to place him on the active list for Sunday. Wade was not available for comment before the game, and Heat coach Pat Riley said in his pregame availability that Wade would be a "game-time" decision. "When he comes back, he's going to be a player," Riley said Sunday. A week ago, Wade said that he hoped to play in "a game or two" with the defending NBA champions before the playoffs open on the weekend of April 21, but later suggested that he would like to play in more games -- provided his shoulder responded well to practices and contact. Without Wade, the Heat rallied from a team on the playoff bubble to one in control of the Southeast Division race; they entered Sunday three games ahead of reeling Washington for the division title. Miami was 16-7 since Wade got hurt, including a nine-game winning streak. link
It will be an interesting experiment, I just hope that he isn't jeopardizing his career in the process. I don't much about shoulder injuries to know either way.
I agree ~ interesting but I hope he won't ruin his career. I have a friend who had the exact same injury about 5-6 years ago -- his arm flies out of the joint now anytime he makes a sudden movement a a certain angle. It has been a real life changing event for him.
That is scary. Did your friend have surgery to "tighten" his shoulder to prevent recurrence? I believe Wade is planning to do this shortly after the season. My question to anyone who knows much about this type of injury: Is the risk of recurrence increased by Wade coming back before surgery, or not?
Ive seen people like this. All is seemingly well then with no warning they start riving in pain, sometimes forcing them to their knees. Its sad.
Dislocated shoulders is nothing to take lightly. Rocket fans should know better. Carl Harrera's career came to a halt because of his shoulder. Hopefully nothing happens to Wade's shoulders in playoffs BUT the way he plays, chances are something might....
Rockets over Heat in 4, Yao sends Shaq memories of Hakeem. ...Homerism aside, Wade being back...eh. He's a warrior, that's for sure.
My buddy didn't have surgery and it has been a huge problem for him ~ he used to be a big snowboader, but now he hardly rides. I guess Wade is thinking even if it does pop out again - he can just fix it after the season is over.
I wonder if playing with this injury will force him out of his games. I can't see him driving and drawing contact like he use to
Regardless of how much I hate the league bending over to make him a star, I love Wade's toughness. If the Heat do well in the playoffs, this will go up there with Shilling's bloody sock game.
