As most of you probably already know, Wandy Rodriguez has been called up and will pitch tonight's game vs. the Cubs.

Anyone know much about this guy? I know he is a lefty with a wicked fastball. Anyone know what other pitches he throws? Anyone know if he has a funky delivery (i.e. sidearm)?

I was at the game he pitched for Round Rock against the Astros. He has a great changeup that is his out pitch. As long as he keeps the ball down, he should be successful. He had a perfect game through 5 innings against the Astros that night. Of course, that might have been more of a warning of things to come for the Astros that it was a coming out party for Rodriguez.

Tough outing for Wandy tonight, but not terrible either.....alot to build on, even if he does get the L. It would take a complete game shutout for an Astros starter to get a win nowadays, and that's a little much to ask for a first career ML start.

I think he's a little further along than Zeke, although both need to work on the long ball. If he can maintain his control and keep throwing his change for strikes (especially behind in the count), he's got some real potential.

I was impressed mainly because he was only on three days rest.

    Anything to be optimistic about...

I thought, overall, he was solid. He left 2 pitches up and they got sent over the right field wall. Otherwise, he can hit, he can field, and he can pitch. Not sure what else you want out of a guy.

I wonder if the next move is Astacio to the pen and Wandy takes the 5th spot. There had been rumblings in the near past that the Astros brass might consider Zeke for the set-up role.

is it me or is this guy what Carlos Hernadez will turn out to be...I mean style wise, since he isn't a power pitcher anymore...great game for WRod....Hr's killed him, but everything else was good, don't be surprise if he's in the roation spot and they send down astacio.....

I thought Rodriguez pitched well. Definitely well enough to keep starting instead of Astacio. Astacio has looked horrible in each start.

Since a wand is a rod, I think he should be Rod-Rod.

    :)
