So I go to Advantage VW for a routine oil change. Before I arrive and before they touch my car, the airbag light is NOT on. NONE of the warning lights are on. After they touch my car. Airbag light 'magically' turns on. Coincidence? No way. I've been trying to rectify this situation for months now. Can I file a complaint with the BBB? What are my options besides bending over and coughing up $$$? How come when something has to do with cars, many people just suddenly get 50x less trustworthy?
The three biggest scam industries in life ( in no particular order ): 1) Banks 2) Insurance companies 3) Auto mechanics (credit agencies are probably gonna make that list soon) -- droxford
You will find that Volkswagen essentially ............doesn't care. And THAT is why their JD Power Consuner Satisfaction ratings are always near the bottom of the barrel. BTW Droxford......what makes you say insurance companies scam you? (can't argue about auto mechanics though, although its not as bad today as it has been in years past.
I have a VW....decent cars but crappy service. Like codell said, they just dont care. Yes, call the 1800 number and try to figure things out with them if the dealership will do nothing about it. If its covered under warranty then get it done. I have heard of complaints about VW that have been much worse than your and they denied responsibility every time.
Suprisingly (knock on wood), I haven't had any problems with my Golf, besides this one. From everyone that I've encountered that drives a VW, it's either a horror story or no problems. They really need to re-evaluate their quality control systems at the Mexico factory.
C'mon....Mulder's response was just as "un-helpful" as mine, plus he already had 20 minutes to see that you didn't care for that kind of stuff. Oh well.
How do banks and insurance companies scam you? Fees and stuff? I know for certain that insurance companies have TINY margins, so they have to fight for every dollar.
Wait...he had over 2 hours. Personally, I'd sell my car and buy something Japanese if I were you. But I don't think you'll take my advice.
Here's the difference. I offered some advise first (continue to press the company) and then showed empathy and mutual frustration with an "I feel your pain" statement.
i went to get my oil changed ..... the next day my car starts getting electrical problems....then they tell me i need to change my alternator....friggin people don't know that i know a thing or two about cars....basically if your alternator goes bad then so does your battery...which should get your Battery sign going....its been three weeks ...still can't tell what it is...the fool probably screwed with the wires... anyway i've sent as many complaints as i can....and still nothing....i hate mechanics. ...sorry only those crooks.
Ok, ok...you got me. Though droxford was first to respond with nothing particular to the question at hand.
I know this won't help you UT, but I'd make it a habit to do routine maintanace at places that do not "service" cars. While they may try to sell you more than you need (like a new air filter), they won't "break" something that you have to get repaired. Kinda like never get the $9.99 transmission service at a transmission shop. Sadly, at this point, you should get the air bag looked at but I'd go to another dealer if possible.
