3 voting advocates guilty of fraud [rquoter]Three staff members for Vote Today Ohio, an independent get-out-the-vote organization supporting Barack Obama, pleaded guilty in Franklin County this afternoon to voter fraud. The three came to Ohio from states where Obama was likely to win in an effort to swing Ohio's electoral college vote toward their candidate, Judge Charles A. Schneider said. The judge gave all three 60 days in jail but suspended it if they paid a $1,000 fine. He also ordered a year's probation. The three are Daniel Hausman, 32, and Amy Little, 50, both of New York, and Yolanda Hippensteele, 30, of California. They told the court they had good intentions when they registered to vote and cast ballots the same day in early voting at Veterans Memorial. "I was paying rent and living full-time in Ohio," Hippensteele told the judge, "I didn't attempt to vote in another state. ... I think it's all a misunderstanding. I have a profound respect for the voting process." Assistant Prosecutor Brian Simms said the three later tried to rescind their registration and cancel their votes; two were successful. Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien had warned visiting campaign staff members that they shouldn't vote here if they didn't plan to stay after the election. Schneider told the three that "rescinding your request is like giving back the money once you've been caught."[/rquoter]
These convictions have me questioning my entire political philosphy and I'm not quite sure how I should vote in the next election. If only there was another political party that offered some legitimate alternative to the Democrats my vote would be up for grabs.
Anybody know of some free or sliding scale mental health treatment in Manhattan to help Basso with the grieving process.. I think he feels like his good bud McCain died and his only friends Dubya and Cheney have abandoned him. Basso claimed good income previously , but I suspect that was before he went into a down ward spiral of grief.
To clarify, 3 people who were volunteering for the election in Ohio changed their voter registration to Ohio and voted there instead of their home state. And they paid a $1,000 fine and got a year of probation. And the news is, what exactly?
1. That two of them successfully rescinded their votes and their registration, according to the article. 2. That the three did vote for themselves, and they only voted in Ohio. 3. No fictional votes were cast, and nobody voted twice. 4. The term "voter fraud" was used in a news article, and that's the big deal for basso, I assume. 5. Evil, insidious AKORN was somehow not involved though?
once again this is registration fruad not voters fraud there is a diffrence. It is just 1 vote there was not voting mutiple times and this is an actual person. Once again another reach.
They temporarily moved to Ohio from New York, so they went from a totally blue state to a battleground state that was an important state for Bush, and one McCain had to have. It was wrong to do that, but it doesn't really matter, as the election wasn't close.
The fact that the Obama cult openly advocated fraudulent schemes like this is sickening. The person most harmed was Hillary Clinton, after the open disregard for the rules that was shown in the Iowa caucus. A lot of Obama voters just have no respect for the law or for what is proper.
