    My Votes :

    BRACKET 'B'

    1) The Replacements *** I really dig the Jam, but The Replacements are 'Hall of fame' in my house.
    16) The Jam

    8) The Circle Jerks
    9) The Hollies *** Sheeesss, the 2nd half of this tourney is WAY too tough, but gotta go with the far too underappreciated Hollies on this one.

    5) The Carpenters
    12) Television *** Man, I hated the Carpenters for so long that it came as quite the embarrassment upon recently hearing a friends greatest hits lp of theirs only to find out I not only liked a couple of their songs but practically loved them all. Alas a total rehab might be in order.... Until then, I can at least comfort myself with the ultra-cool Television and KNOW I made the right choice.

    4) Badfinger ***
    13) Husker Du

    6) Modest Mouse *** Don't care that much for either band.
    11) Bush

    3) T Rex
    14) Roxy Music ***

    7) The White Stripes ***
    10) Mars Volta

    2) The Cult - No/Vote
    15) Radiohead

    BRACKET 'D'

    1) The Pixies ***
    16) They Might Be Giants

    8) Iggy and the Stooges ***
    9) Bread

    5) Wilco *** Their last couple albums have been suspect in my book; of course, the critics say they are their best. Give me 'AM' any day.
    12 The Isley Brothers

    4) The Byrds *** I really caught on to the Byrds when Colombia recently rereleased all their CDS with bonus tracks and cool liner notes. I really had no idea how special they were; and the bonus tracks aren't just throw aways. In many respects they are sometimes better than what was initially released under Colombias '60's teeny bopper mindful eye'. Sweatheart of the Rodeo is killer as is, but add the unreleased versions of Grahm Parsons singing alternative takes on some of those songs and everything tumbles into place. Or take the bonus tracks on an already excellent 'The Notorious Byrds Bros'. The band had just kicked out David Crosby, so his mini masterpiece 'Triad' got buried on the shelfs (only to see Jefferson Airplane make a hit of it soon after). You get to hear the Byrds rendition here and it is really awesome. I could go on and on about the Byrds. They were quite special.
    13) System of a Down

    6) Joy Division *** What a brutal match-up. I admire them both and being as Brett from Bad Religion produced a couple albums for a ****ty band I was in, my nod to Joy Divisions ground -breaking power makes it all the harder.
    11) Bad Religion

    3) The Black Crowes
    14) Guided By Voices ***

    7) Coldplay
    10) Wishbone Ash *** Will save my Wishbone Ash and Guided by Voices rants for another day.

    2) Motorhead
    15) Oasis ***

Win, Win, Win - you put Radiohead in but as a #15 seed??!! And going against one of my favorites in the Cult??!! You're killing me, man! ;)

    Votes are in bold:

    BRACKET 'B'

    1) The Relacements - The Jam is not bad but the Replacements are better mainly because of songs like "Bastards of the Young"
    16) The Jam

    8) The Circle Jerks - no vote
    9) The Hollies - no vote - don't know much about either although I have heard of the Circle Jerks, but only by name.

    5) The Carpenters
    12) Television - Tom Verlaine kicks both of the Carpenters' pansy asses with one hand tied behind his back. Not even close here.

    4) Badfinger
    13) Husker Du

    6) Modest Mouse - although I own one Bush CD (which I never listen to), MM is infinitely better band.
    11) Bush

    3) T Rex - flipped a coin
    14) Roxy Music

    7) The White Stripes
    10) Mars Volta

    2) The Cult
    15) Radiohead - damn, it pains me to vote against the Cult, but Radiohead along with Joy Division should have been a #1 seed in this thing.

    BRACKET 'D'

    1) The Pixies - They Might Be Giants might be the most annoying band I have ever heard
    16) They Might Be Giants

    8) Iggy and the Stooges - another ass kicking here.
    9) Bread

    5) Wilco - this band ranks right up there with Beck, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, and the Beastie Boys as one of the top alternative acts of the last 15 years.
    12 The Isley Brothers

    4) The Byrds - mainly because SOAD sucks.
    13) System of a Down

    6) Joy Division - I like Bad Religion and would probably vote for them in most other matchups but can't vote for them here.
    11) Bad Religion

    3) The Black Crowes - no vote
    14) Guided By Voices - no vote - I don't like the Black Crowes at all but not familiar at all with Guided by Voices.

    7) Coldplay
    10) Wishbone Ash

    2) Motorhead
    15) Oasis
