The fact that Radiocrap beat The Cult makes me sick.

Yep, y'all are correct. "I'm a creep" beats the hell out of "She Sells Sanctuary"

    Riiggghhhtt.

I'm going back to my poll.

I'm not in Fatty's hilarious club, where voting for anyone at all over also ran bands like AC/DC or The Cult earns you the ultimate in rolly eyes, but I have to say it is ****ed up to pit Talking Heads against Devo. In the words of David Cross, that sh*t ain't right. But here goes anyway.

    Bracket A

    Velvet Underground
    Flaming Lips

    New York Dolls
    XTC

    Sonic Youth
    The Pretenders

    Abba
    Janes Addiction

    BRACKET B

    Yes
    Mott The Hoople

Given the competition, both these bands should be eliminated this round.

    Buzzcocks
    13th Floor Elevators

    Talking Heads
    Devo

    So uncool.

    Temptations
    Dead Kennedys

    BRACKET C

    Replacements
    Circle Jerks

    Carpenters
    Husker Du

    Modest Mouse
    T Rex

    White Stripes
    Radio Head

    BRACKET D

    Pixies
    Iggy and the Stooges

Another horrible matchup given all the bands that shouldn't even be in this round, but The Pixies are like the damn Beatles. Sorry, Iggy.

    Wilco
    The Byrds

    Another toughie, but Wilco's Wilco.

    Joy Division
    Guided By Voices

    Coldplay
    Motorhead

First off, the song is called "Creep", not "I'm a Creep". Second of all, it is probably the one song that Thom Yorke and the rest of the band despise because it is the only song that jabronis like yourself know as it probably came on before "She Shook Me All Night" or "Thunderstruck" one day on your radio.

    Votes are in bold:

    Bracket A

    Velvet Underground
    Flaming Lips

    New York Dolls
    XTC

    Sonic Youth
    The Pretenders

    Abba
    Janes Addiction

    BRACKET B

    Yes
    Mott The Hoople

    Buzzcocks
    13th Floor Elevators

    Talking Heads
    Devo

    Temptations
    Dead Kennedys

    BRACKET C

    Replacements
    Circle Jerks

    Carpenters
    Husker Du

    Modest Mouse
    T Rex

    White Stripes
    Radiohead

    BRACKET D

    Pixies
    Iggy and the Stooges

    Wilco
    The Byrds

    Joy Division
    Guided By Voices

    Coldplay
    Motorhead

A couple of toughies - XTC is a band that I will eventually get into, but I had to go with the New York Dolls since I have their debut (hadn't listened to it in ages). Radiohead's and Pixies' competitors are very solid bands but I feel that Thom & Co. and Black Francis & Co. are the stronger bands. Finally, the last and hardest of them all was the Motorhead against Coldplay matchup. I like both of these bands, but #1, I have a feeling that Coldplay will get more votes because they are a more known band and #2, when you do something as kickass as "Ace of Spades", you deserve to move on to the next round.:)

    My thoughts exactly.

    P.S.
On a side note how come Bob Marley and the Wailers has never made it on any bracket?

    Go Figure.

The Temptations vs. Dead Kennedys? Are you talking about The Temptations? How the hell did they end up in this poll?

Coldplay vs. Motorhead. LOL, I'd rather see these two bands fight it out for real. Can you imagine Chris Martin vs. Lemmy in The Octagon? I'd pay a lot of money to see that. :D

    Bracket A

Velvet Underground ( love the lips. i used to sing "do you realize" to my first born son as a lullaby. but, selfish as i am, i can't vote against the VU )

    XTC

    The Pretenders

( i don't go all nostalgic for abba, don't like jane's addiction much, abstain )

    BRACKET B

Mott The Hoople ( yes equals no )

    Buzzcocks

Talking Heads ( devo is great, talking heads rule )

Dead Kennedys ( another selfish choice )

    BRACKET C

    Replacements

    Husker Du

T Rex ( love the mouse but... )

Radio Head ( white stripes- overrated, radiohead, underrated )

    "Airbag"

    In the next world war
    In a jackknifed juggernaut
    I am born again

    In the neon sign
    Scrolling up and down
    I am born again

    In an interstellar burst
I am back to save the universe

In a deep deep sleep of the innocent
    I am born again

    In a fast german car
    I'm amazed that I survived
    An airbag saved my life

    In an interstellar burst
I am back to save the universe

    In an interstellar burst
I am back to save the universe

    BRACKET D

Pixies ( easy choice, the pixies are really, really good )

    Wilco

    Joy Division

Motorhead ( motorhead is so "just okay". coldplay is ****ing lame. LAME. )

maybe b/c he is viewed as a "solo" artist, even though it was billed bob marley AND the wailers.

    like prince and the revolution

    kool and the gang

and as far as mars volta loosing to white stripes, i will again submit that if you are only going to be a two piece band than one of your members cannot suck as bad on their instrument as the drummer does.

i just heard mars volta for the first time about a month ago (never was a big at the drive in fan, though i did see them once). those guys are doing some absolutely amazing stuff. ive been listening alot to both of their records. all you prog rockers should give it a listen. equal parts punk, psychedellic, prog rock, metal and even cumbia-style latin rhythms. they also do yes proud by averaging about 10 minutes a song.

I am going to get their 2 albums but I am a little worried that this band used to be a part of At-the-Drive-In which makes me think they might be an emo rock band. Can you tell any influence of Floyd in their songs? What other bands do you think influenced them?

    Thanks.
