Uggh, I have tried to avoid this before but I just cannot control myself:

Am I the only person in the world that thinks Denzel Washington is one of the most over-rated over-hyped least-gifted actors in Hollywood? He plays the exact same character in just about every movie, or at least he carries the same demeanour (sp?). He has this auora of complete self-rightousness and arrogance that drives me nuts. The only movie I have liked that he was in is Glory, and that is mostly due to my answer for your question: Morgan Freeman.

Morgan Freeman has an attitude that commands respect and attention without being so damn cocky. I also like Samual Jackson quite a bit. I think my favorite black actor, though, is Laurence Fishburne. 2nd place is a tie between Freeman and Ving Rhames.

ps Denzel isn't the only mainstream actor/actress I can't stand. Is anyone else driven absolutely nuts by Sandra Bullock? I hate her acting and I don't even think she's hot. Maybe I'm just insane, those are just two people that rub me the wrong way...

I love most of Samuel L. Jackson's movies, but I'd have to go with Laurence Fishburne or Morgan Freeman.

I like Chris Rock myself. But given those choices, Denzel.

I could not agree with you more Dylan. Denzel plays essentially the same role in every single movie. You can also count on at least one rambling self-righteous speech from him in any film. Even Arnold has a better differentiation of characters than Denzel.

I'd vote for Morgan Freeman, easily the best actor of those mentioned though Mr Fishburne is excellent and may one day be in Freeman's class.

The path of the riteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shephards the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truely his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers!! And you will know my name is THE LORD when I lay my vengance upon thee!!!

One of the best movie lines of all time, but one question...Out of which bible did Quentin Tarantino find that version of Ezekiel 25:17?? I can't find anything close to that...

I totally disagree. Denzel's role in Philadelphia was different as was his role in Glory. In each of those he did a FABULOUS job. One of the most moving moments captured on film is him crying while being whipped. He's a fantastic actor...and like a Tom Cruise, his looks naturally bring him roles where he is that of an arrogant leader. But I have NEVER seen a job like he gave in Malcom X. I took a minority issues in political science in college and we watched actual clips of Malcom compared to the job Denzel did...unbelievable how similar they were!!!

Having said that, I also love Morgan Freeman and Samuel L. Jackson and have a real hard time picking who a favorite.

Although I think Denzel is the best of the three, that doesn't mean that Jackson and Freeman aren't great actors as well. They've all made some great films.

Like Freeman, and definitely Jackson, but Washington seems like a wooden board trying to be melo-dramatic in his acting.

O.K., O.K....Denzel is a fine actor, but I don't like him. (don't know why though) The others are among my top 10 favorite to watch.
