AI shouldn't leave like this. We all should vote him for the ASG. Thank his contribution to the bball for 13 seasons.

sounds stupid as hell. vote for a dude because he's a whiner and doesn't want to come off the bench? Because teams aren't willing to build around an old, aging star, and he doesn't want to take a backseat?

He gets in and plays, he unretires and more ESPN coverage ensues. Maybe this is what it was like before Favre turned into the coverage queen we see today.

The guy and his 76ers were a joy to root for but that was a long time ago. Where the NBA needs to go, its not where he can lead it to.

What if the coaches voted him in? Would he decline to come off the bench? Probably.

I'll vote for him, he gave it all out in the court and I respect him for that.

He didn't jump on with a contender and get a free ride to a championship either. Like him or not, he is one of the all-time greats and should end his career in a good note.

Beautiful? 1 on 5 point guard iso creating a crazy inefficient jumper is beautiful? Heck no.

Only thing I admired about AI was his competitiveness, but never liked his me-first tendencies and lack of defense.

How long have you been watching the bball? And, what does the 'beautiful ball' mean to you?

That same play making you described earned him a trip to the finals with a mediocre team. Yea they lost to a much more talented Lakers team but he's one of the greatest of all time and he deserves to go out on a good note.

He did it to himself. He could have sucked it up and played off the bench for a contender and went out on a good note. Too bad he's full of himself and is wiling to go out like this. Great player in Philly and a definite HOF'er but looks like he's content with going out the way he is right now, and everyone should be as well.
