So today we went to Ragin Cajun (Galleria area location) for some crawfish, which was my first time at this particular restaurant. As we were finishing our meal, we saw Von Wafer himself walk past our table to go order his food and I wanted to take this chance before he got his meal to talk to him. We had a good 5 minute conversation I would say before his food was ready in which we covered a couple topics such as last nights game, Landry situation, and his contract. I will just talk about the contract conversation because I dont have very much time and idk if yall want to know about the rest of the conversation because I think this half is more important, but if yall want I will post later. So as we were talking I asked him when his contract expired (I already knew but I really wanted to bring it up) and he told me after the season. Me: Man I feel as if you really fit in with this team and you are a great player to have especially off the bench, which is what you are doing right now, and I really hope that you resign with us. Wafer: Thanks man, but I really wish I could get more minutes, and I am working to do so, and yeah so do I. Me: Yeah man, I agree with you, those couple games you started for TMAC I thought you looked real nice and I thought you would continue to start but from the looks of it Adelman decided that starting Artest and Battier, and bringing you off the bench was more effective, but just continue to do your thing man, be effective, attack the rim like you do, and you will get your time, just please resign with us man. Wafer: Yeah man I would really like to and hopefully it plays out right and we will see what happens. Me: I am sure Morey will resign you again with the way style that you are playing, and me as a fan, I would love to have you back, I respect your game and athleticism is pretty sick haha. Wafer: Haha, thanks man, and hopefully. Then his order got called, and as he was getting his drink I asked if he could take a pic with me and he said sure no prob. He was real cool and chill the whole time and came and sat at the end of our table. Just trying to do my part as a fan giving the guy the recognition he deserves and my fan GM duties. I am sure a player would love to hear a fan expressing that he respects his game, and like what he does for his team, especially if it is a player who has been bouncing around the league and is now establishing himself. I would at least.
Nice pic. That must have been pretty cool. Good to know he is an approachable guy; we have a real good crew this year.
Great stuff man. I'm still waiting for my turn to run into a player. I really hope he can resign. He's fun to watch and when he plays smart he's a force. He just needs work on his decision making and maybe on his defense.
I knew Rick Ad was going to fu@k up his chances of him resigning by minimizing his mins, he better start playing more in the clutch. You should of told him if he gets on clutchfans.
Great to know that Von Wafer is actually a pretty cool person. I saw a thread about some Laker fan saying he was annoying person that no one liked. Obviously that is not true from your experience correct? If I had to take a guess it was some Kobe fan that was just mad that Von Wafer torched him in that one game in Lakers vs Rockets. About all Laker forums aren't even Laker fans just Kobe fans who are under the age of 18. Most Laker fans post on respectable sites not that one.
I like Wafer alot, I hope he doesnt leave because of lack of minutes. Im sure he will be used alot in the playoffs, he is a big game player.
wow nice man! so sad i never see any players.....the only one i saw was robert horry..at king bo...i hope i run into chuck, landry, wafer, brooks or some others one day...except yao, cuz itd be pointless becuz my mom saw him before and said he was acting cool and not taking pics or autographs or even talking to ppl//////
Well when you're Yao Ming EVERYONE recognizes you. I'm sure being one of the most recognizable people in the nation will get old after a while. So being a little distant is completely understandable. For guys like Chuck, Von, Landry, and so on, most people don't know them and don't approach them. They probably think it's pretty cool. Awesome story dude. What else did y'all talk aobut?
It is my opinion that McGrady is pretty blank and even standoffish if you approach him in public. Also, he thinks he is too good to sign autographs before Rockets games usually. I don't hate the guy, I love him on our team and I wish him success, but I'm just saying some players will kind of wave you off or keep to themselves. It's their privacy, after all. I'm sure if I had people coming up to me all the time I'd get a little tired of it.
wtf is that shirt that Von is wearing... "Power to move hearts of men" Really Von? Move my heart! no homo.
