I would say yes but Devin Harris will win it this year.

very little chance he gets it.

the trend is for the league to award the MIP to the player who best jumped from role player to star, not from bench player to role player.

i think vanilla wafer has been doing an admirable job of filling in, and i think the league took notice of his stats and efforts last week (evident from his being mentioned as a possible player of the week). but if and when defenses actually start acknowledging him as something more than just a role player, we'll see if he can actually maintain the kinda numbers he's been putting up thus far.

he's gonna have to keep it up for much longer than 2 weeks to be in the running.

If he keeps this up then yes.

The thing with Harris is that people thought he would be like this. No one had even HEARD of Wafer before this year and I'm sure most people still haven't,

sorry for the double post, but yeah, Devin Harris is definitely the front-runner for the award.

i think more intriguing will be this year's ROY race with mayo, gordon, rose, beasley, and rudy. (not to mention whoever else i'm leaving out.)

I don't understand how Granger could win? He was nearly as good last year. Dunleavy goes down and Granger's numbers go up. I do not see Granger in the running. Then again, Camby is the running for DPOY on a regular basis so...

Yeah the first candidate that came to my mind was Granger.

Devin Harris is in the running as well.

I doubt Wafer will even be considered unless he consistently scores 15-20ppg from here on out.

If Von Wafer continues to play like he is playing, and admittedly that is a big if, then he will continue to get 30 minutes a game either off of the bench or as a starter.

When was the last time a player had a 14 - 16 point per game average difference from the previous year? And not just that but his efficiency has just been eye popping as well.

Kevin Durant is in the running as well. Don't see Wafer contending, he's playing more minutes because of the injuries but as soon as TMac and Artest are back its bye-bye starters job, players that only play spot minutes generally don't get the MIP award.

KD was rookie of the year last year. I don't think anything he is doing is much of a shock. What KD is doing (which is amazing) is really just a natural progression from what he did last season.
