Here's my story.... I finished studying last year, getting my Diploma in Information Technology. I've been looking for a job since mid last-year, but I don't think I want to go into the IT field anymore. Maybe I just need a break or something. But anyway, I applied for some universities and got rejected from those which I applied. So now I'm stuck trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. Should I wait out the year and try my luck at university next year? Or should I get a job in the IT field to see what it's really like? I have absolutely no idea. I was thinking of going to a vocational guidance counsellor (or whatever they're called), but has anyone ever been to one before? Is it worth going to see one? Anyone know any good ways of making money fast? Thanks!
If you're right out of school and want to get into IT, you will either have to start at the bottom or as a consultant. Either way, it's a start. You have to gain experience before you can start moving up the foodchain. The only ways of making money fast are (1) the lottery, (2) the casino or horse track and (3) illegal businesses.
Want to make money? Sell insurance. I know lots of guys that got into selling insurance when they got out of school and couldn't find a job. You work pretty hard for a couple of years, but as you build up your client base, the money starts to roll in. You typically get a certain percentage of the premiums on all the policies you sale...every year that they are paid...so if somebody buys a life insurance policy and pays the premium every year for 40 years, you get your cut for that long. A good place to start is a place that will start you out on a little salary + your commisions and move up from there. As for the IT industry...get a job at a company, have a slightly lower salary, but more benefits and security in your job, or go to consulting and make a higher salary, but have less benefits and security. CGI (a pretty good consulting firm) is hiring right now...check the web.
