I'm looking for a multi-track music creation software that works with windows 7 and has a built in vocal compressor. I've looked into Sony Acid Music Studio 8, but it doesn't tell me whether this has it. I'm not looking at Sound Forge since I'll have to import my tracks from another source in order to compress it down and it just takes too long. Does anybody know if Acid Music 8 has a compressor, or maybe some other suggestions for software costing less than $100?
Maybe Audacity? It's free and open source. Doesn't hurt to look at it. It's interface is ugly though.
you get a free 30 day demo that allows you to do everything on the full version for Ableton Live, I suggest you look into it.
sonar/cakewalk makes a good one for under $100 called 'guitar tracks' or something like that. i had an earlier version when i first made the switch from cassette 4-track to computer recording. i liked the program so much that when i was ready to spend some money on better software i ended up getting sonar studio. the $100 version of guitar tracks should give you at least 16 tracks as well as a ton of effects including compression.
