seemed kinda interesting at first, but Corrie was just too old, and he was just looking to land one big punch and go home. Vitali was prepared to go 12 rounds. I just wish Lennox would come back and fight him again...
I missed the fight, thanks yahoo *also, this looked pretty damn scary. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/photo?slug=las10104250055.anani_holewyne_las101&prov=ap
Two bums. Sanders was content to stand there and just get hit most of the night except for I think two occassions where his haymaker connected and Klitschko was briefly wobbled. Klitschko was clearly the better of the two and atleast appeared to have a gameplan out there. The state of the heavyweight division is a sad one and until some young stud emerges ala Tyson in the 80's there will continue to be these scrubs fighting beating the hell out of each other. I'm fine with waiting for this to happen as opposed to Lewis returning and wiping the mats with all these chumps and being even more glorified for doing so, I wouldn't put to much weight on the fact that he beat any of the guys out there right now. Another name i keep hearing tossed around is Mike Tyson and whgile the voyeur in me wouldn't mind seeing him fight again and no doubt he could beat most these guys in the end who really cares and it would be ashamed for Tyson or Lewis to use fights like these as one last assertion of greatness as it would no doubt become.
But i would rather see vitali win the title than, plodder ruiz and feather fisted byrd. Toney and Vitali would be interesting.
It was an interesting fight to watch, and it was better than trying to go out for drinks in the downpour. There were some nice heavy shots in the fight, but I wouldn't call it a great fight nor would I call either fighter world-class. The heavyweights are in disarray right now, waiting for the next big thing to appear.
Klitschko might be a bum, but he's also the best bum in the HW division. I enjoyed the fight, entertaining if not competitive.
Now that Tyson's most recent legal troubles are behind him - Roy Jones (the best HW) & Tyson are (supposedly) talking again directly about what would be the only possible 'mega' HW fight for a long long time. I really can't see why it won't happen in the next year and a half.
Jones doesn't have the punching power to "kill" any heavyweight, and he's certainly too smart to get into a slugfest with one. If he fought Tyson he would win a 12 round decision.
Tyson is still making noises about fighting in K-1 for like the 8,274th time...will probably never happen though.
The fight could be great or the fight could be horrible BUT it would be very interesting speculating during the lead up to the bout. Roy absolutely has the power to take Tyson out - not one punch, but a flurry and he's down. Tyson obviously would try to take out RJ early - going 12 is the last thing he would want to do and would be a sure loss. Unlike the RJ - Ruiz fight Tyson really isn't that much bigger than Jones maybe 10 pounds so there isn't a major advantage with Tyson’s size. And Jones did go toe to toe with Ruiz so why not Tyson? The main thing with this fight is money and this would certainly be the highest grossing pay per view fight ever. Who wouldn't pay to watch this? Advantage RJ -- punchers chance Tyson…
Here's an update on Tyson... Sportsview: Maybe Boxing Needs Tyson LAS VEGAS - If all goes according to plan, and it rarely does when Mike Tyson is involved, the former baddest man on the planet will walk into a Phoenix gym sometime this week and begin hitting the speed bag. Tyson
King Cheetah: my point is that Jones woudln't even TRY to knock Tyson out because if he gets that close Tyson could easily win the fight with a single haymaker. Tyson's power puts Jones' to shame, and Roy would be best served cautiously jabbing, throw 2 or 3 quick combos per round, then just dance around the ring the rest of the time. He's the smartest fighter of this generation and wouldn't risk his reputation or earning power by being foolish and trying to go inside and match power with Tyson.
