First the simple question...Are you broadcasting your network's name? If not, it won't show up in the network list.

    I seriously doubt it's a Vista problem.

Yes, i'm broadcasting it. That's how I connect to my router with my other PC. Laptop on XP and one laptop with Vista premium both 32bit.

Does your wireless card see any networks?

Just remember that there will be a serious limit on applications available.

Don't expect to play any games with your Mac, and enjoy paying extra for EVERYTHING Apple.

Little to worry about from viruses and spyware so it may be worth it for you.

Your card might not communicating with the router for various reasons (router is using a different channel or protocol, etc.). Does the router even support that card?

I recently bought an HP PC with 64 bit Vista and my router connected up with it, right off the bat. I've deliberately forgotten anything I've ever known about routers, due to problems in the past, so I can't explain what I'm doing right, but if mine works, either yours should work, or you should toss it and buy a new one. :) ;)

Maybe HP had it configured before they shipped it?

Mine's a Linksys Wireless-G, 2.4 GHz. broadband router. Nothing special. Just plugged it in and Vista "found it," I guess. I'd used the same router on my old PC with 32 bit XP Pro. Good luck!

you still haven't answered Rokkits question:

"What brand/model router and card do you have, OP?"

We can help you if you answer that question. Otherwise, we can't help you.

yeah, post the numbers later. Sounds like the card is working if it's seeing other networks...thus, not a Vista issue. I would guess you can fart around with the channel you are using for the card and router.

uh, no...that's not an issue. move on from that idea, because you basically don't understand the role of a router. I mean, coffee shops don't upgrade their routers to support all Macs and all Windows machines. Point is: that is not an issue. OS's and routers are not tied together, anymore than the scores of routers your data passes through on its journey through the internet.

the only issues are either the card in your machine doesn't support 64-bit (which we've ruled out), or your card and router are having communication problems.

the computer OS and the router don't care about each other.
