I will be in the DC area for about 5 days in early November. I've never been there before and outside of the normal things to do like see the governmental and historic sites I have no idea what else the area offers. If you guys could make some suggestions on every thing from places to eat, things to see, or even things to avoid feel free. I will be there with a good friend and his wife, but the wife will be away for at least two days attending a business conference, so we will have complete freedom for a while. In other words, we'll be able to do guy things as well.
If you like beer, the Brickskeller (a little west of the Dupont Circle stop off the red line) is a great place. My fav. place to hang out at in DC. http://www.thebrickskeller.net/ If you like Thai food, Thaiphoon is a great place kinda in the opposite direction, but also off Dupont. FYI--Dupont is also somewhat the gay area...just so you're not surprised, haha. Not that either of those places are full of dudes only or anything. I'll try to post as things come to me..
I can't comment on specific things to do or where to go. But I will say, if I had to live anywhere in the Northeast, it would have to be in the D.C. area. That town is cool.
Years ago I lived off of Montrose in Houston and I don't recall it being that bad, but I was young and innocent in those days. Thanks for the suggestions!
