I'm a Texans fan til the end but it didnt keep me from making a short pro-Vince vid Plus I wanted to start a thread for the 2nd time ever for fun. *Edit* Just changed it to a better one down below. Not greatest I know but I'm new to the custom vids <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LFtHwCD2Gas"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LFtHwCD2Gas" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I'm not an Anthony Weaver fan, but the hold on him at the 2-second mark of that video should have been called.
Perhaps but he was out of position to make a play anyways so it had no direct effect on the TD. He was too far behind Young to catch him when the blatant hold happened so I don't think it would have made much of a difference. Dumb play by the Titan offfensive lineman though. Could have easily been called if the refs had gotten flag happy. That play reminds me of plays when guys get called for holding when they are nowhere near the play and the guy they hold wouldn't have been able to make a play on the ball. I noticed that too though when it first happened and couldn't for the life of me understand why he grabbed the guy like that after VY was so far downfield already. Only thing I could think of is that he didn't know where VY was.
vator, even when they're on the opposite side of the field, HOLDING penalties are called. Your rebuttal makes no sense. Shall I remind you of Beebee and Leon Lett?
I don't make any sense? First of all it wasn't a rebuttal. I clearly said I thought he was being held and a flag could have easily been thrown so what exactly are you complaining about again? I just went on to state that from the way the play developed that he had no chance of actually tackling VY. Then I went on to state situations in which guys ARE called for holding in similar situations that would have otherwise had nor real impact on the play. Do you honestly think Weaver would have chased Vince Young down considering VY had several yards and a full head of steam on him?
Yes. Players CAN move forward, then when they see opposing players attempt to stop them, can sit to try to juke or come back towards the line of scrimmage. Even though VY doesn't seem to be a player that would do that, and even with a "full head of steam", ANY DEFENSIVE PLAYER could catch him... he wasn't running straight forward, mind you, he was weaving and cutting through the defense. You initially said that "Perhaps but he was out of position to make a play anyways so it had no direct effect on the TD. He was too far behind Young to catch him when the blatant hold happened so I don't think it would have made much of a difference." Weaver could have made a play. It was holding and it wasn't called. Aside from "uncatchable balls", every player can affect a ball carrier's play.
Hilarious to me how you can watch that video and see him running away from everybody and you pin your hopes on a fat and slow player to chase him down from behind. You obviously have a strong opinion on it but I happen to strongly disagree. That is ok right? After watching that play over and over again, I happen to think that he had about as much of a chance to catch VY as all of the other people he blew right past.
there should have been a flag on the play, but saying that "ANY DEFENSIVE PLAYER could catch [Vince]" is pretty ridiculous...because...well, you know.
I agree with this to a certain extent. It was definitely flag worthy...definitely, but I see guys holding all the time and either the refs don't see it or they use descretion. Had this happened in front of or next to instead of 5 yards behind the play I honestly think it would have been flagged because of the impact it would have had during a crucial moment like that.
Anyone want to give credit to the blocking? No... It was all Young? No love for the big, sweaty fatties gettin' it done and leaving him untouched? Really? Just Young pullin' an NFL-Moses and parting the defense with his will ? Okay cool...
It's mostly Vince Young. But the unsung hero of that run is whoever lays the awesome block on McCleon at the 20-yard line. At that point, it would have been a chipshot field goal, but it was a great block nonetheless.
I uploaded two versions but the other one kept saying "processing, awaiting authorization" or something so I deleted it cuz i got tired of waiting. I'll put the other one up then.
if it had been d carr he would have taken the sack and we would then punt and then vince would have just run it from the 50 like he did on that play. vince>carr obvious
