Who would you rather have at this point per football skills? I know there will be a lot of Texas fans voting VY but thought it would be interesting to see. Personally I would rather Vick since he seems like a better athlete.
Where's the "someone without ISSUES" shoice? I kid. I know you give two choices, so I will choose: YOUNG. He's not a proven thug. YET.
Vince Young, because the people who support PETA will still be showing up in my games. Either way, I'd hate to have either on my team. Michael Vick was always overrated when he played, always. Vince Young has a nice rookie year, it's too bad he started randomly having thoughts about retiring for some reason and now he's being delusional saying he's going to win the Superbowl and being a black QB doing so. I'll go with Young, because of youth and PETA support.
Vick easily, and I say that as a Young fan. I'm just going off your criteria, which is football skills, rather than off the field distractions, age, etc. Vick has had some sustained pro success, whereas VY has had some team success, but less that can truly be attributed to him, per se. Both are running threats, but I think Vick has proven to be a little more explosive in the running game, too. All in all, gotta go Vick right now regarding skills, but I hope one day soon it's a closer argument.
Maybe, but you can't really compare. VY and Vick are built to be the center of the offense, and both are inferior passers and decision-makers at the NFL level. I guess I should've said "as long as the offense is centered around them, they won't win the Super Bowl". If they can get a top-tier running game and top defense (like the Ravens with Dilfer), and be run-oriented teams, then they can win it all. But most GM's/coaches/coordinators will see the athleticism and gameplan to an athletic QB's strengths, which is getting out of the pocket and running with the quarterback (or threatening with it), which will never win a Super Bowl because I believe there will always be a defense smart and talented enough to beat that. (It will get you in the playoffs, sell tickets, and be fun to watch though) Now if an athlete comes around with the athleticism of Vick and the passing skills and decision-making of Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, then you've got an all-time great on your hands. But chances are most athletic QB's have depended on their feet so much that they haven't developed the real skills they need to be a pocket QB.
May have picked the wrong choice here initially... because I am a VY fan. You sometimes forget how good Vick was before his incident... I'll go with Vick even though I may have chose VY in the poll.
