Sportsnet.ca -- The human highlight reel known as Vinsanity has been replaced by after-school specials.

Toronto Raptors superstar Vince Carter, struggling through his worst season ever, said his dunking days are all but done.

"I don't want to dunk anymore," Carter told Sportsnet.

Although he asserted that his skills haven't diminished, Carter said dunking is overrated and unnecessary.

"You can make a layup and reach the free throw line," said Carter, who is averaging 3.18 free throws a game this season, well below the seven he averaged during his best offensive years from 1999 to 2001. His 14.5 points per game is also his lowest average since becoming a professional.

Raptors point guard Rafer Alston said that he himself should shoulder some of the blame for Carter's early struggles, saying he hasn't found Carter enough early in the season, or perhaps he should reduce his own amount of shots.

"I'm not going to let him take all the credit," said Carter about Alston's remarks. "I just haven't found my shot yet."

My God.....Vince, Vince, Vince. How does he expect to get in the all-star game now!? If he's sucking it up AND not dunking no way is he getting voted in.

I'd take him for Juwan and Mo.

Just think, they could go big with Juwan, Mo and Bosh manning two through four, considering Mo's extended range (3pt.) :D

I half-think he's saying this to force a trade. Toronto's only kept him this long because of the way he draws fans. Seems like he's going out of his way this year to be as un-entertaining as possible.

yeah i saw that one on the sports net news last night. it was hilarious. i still can't believe vince, the once superstar-in-the-making, the 'air canada', has become this. he got 4 points (or something like that) and sat out on the bench the whole 4th quater and his team made a biggest comeback in franchise history and beat the spurs.

What's strange is that his team this year isn't that bad; and if he starts pulling his weight and playing like the superstar that he can be, they'd be pretty good. Why does he want to get traded again?

Coz his mama wants him to. Because he doesn't feel that he's treated special enough, doesn't have a final say in lots of issues. Unlike in 2001, when he got the Raptors three big ugly contracts in AD, JYD, and AW.

Carter was giving a sarcastic reply to a twirp reporter named Barry Davis (who no one likes). He was tired of being asked the same questions over and over and decided to play around with the reporter, who was either too dumb to realize his chain was being jerked, or decided to get even with Carter by passing his words off as serious.

I am not excusing Carter's poor play so far this season - but some of you people really need to grow up. It's getting very tiresome visiting certain boards to see the same keyboard cowboys rolling out the same lame jokes over and over again.

How nice of Vince to not let Rafer Alston shoulder ALL the blame. Big man.
