    Today - 1:55 AM ET
Vince Carter is considering having arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome left knee that could put him out for up to a month.
"It makes sense. In Orlando where they were competing for an NBA title he didn't want to ruin the continuity of the team's starting lineup, compromise their chances for home court advantage, or (personally) lose his starting job to J.J. Redick. Now he has a chance to get his knee right heading into what will be an audition, since it is possible the Suns buy out his $4 million guarantee rather than paying him the full $18 million he is owed next season. The surgery isn't guaranteed right now, but Jared Dudley should be added in many situations with this news."

I guess the Sun's got what they wanted out of their trade.

O well, Maybe it's time for Vince to hang it up

It was a pretty good career. Despite the early injuries, he managed to stay healthy while he was with the Nets and Magic

He had his glory days in the air while playing for Toronto, and probably will be the best dunker the NBA will ever have. had his chance with a contender but was stopped in the conference finals. I would call it a career

$14 mil in savings. The real reason for the trade.

VC is not retiring because he wants another contract. Unlike AI, he might be able to accept a bench role on a contender and do fairly well.

The Suns need to trade Nash to a contender while they can still get value out of him. Also, it would be a nice gesture to a guy who's done nothing but play his heart out for them.

suns cant trade nash the owner is losing money as it is he trades nash and he can kiss any ticket sales good bye. the suns have no real young potential super stars that they could possibly prop up either to sell to fans...if Amare was still there yeah but now its all nash

VC is just doing what he thinks is best for his career he knows the suns will not seriously contend for the title (though they did make the WCF last year but a totally different team now) and so if surgery helps then get the surgery done.

of course its sort of a dick move by them right after he is traded.

feel bad for the suns fan base they really had an amazing team 5 years ago that could have won titles but ownership was cheap to hold onto all the pieces and sold draft picks that have gone on to be good nba players (fernandez, nate robinson) to an elite PG in Rondo

Arthroscopic surgery generally isn't a big deal. Kobe Bryant has had multiple arthroscopic surgeries over the Summer. It would be a wise move if they want the most out of Carter come playoff times and I would trust the Suns staff to rehab him properly.

Jared Dudley put up 27/5/3 with 2 steals and 1 block yesterday.

Will be interesting to see if he can continue to contribute like this.

It looks as if your team should not lose in the WCF to the Lakers. If you do, your premier player will leave (e.g. PHX with Amare, DEN with Anthony)...
